  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Owners I need your help.

When getting into my car this morning there is a constant HIGH pitch noise coming from the dash. I believe it's coming from the speaker that is connected to the door chime, parking senors. This noise is not coming from the audio speakers. I turned off my radio and it's still on. I also turned off my car and this noise is still on. I have googled to see if this has happened to any other GENESIS owners but no luck. I can't seem to find a diagram of were this speaker is located at in the dash board.:confused:

Does anyone know where this speaker is located at? Or Does anyone know what the problem is? :grouphug:

Any help at this time would be appreciated before I bring it to the STEALERSHIP!!

If you have the navigation and or tech pkg. It could be the computer hard drive in the dash unit. If I listen carefully I can here mine spin up when I am first in the car and it remains on after the car is turned off until the car transfers to sleep mode. Your hard drive may be a little noisy.

I do have navigation / tech pkg but this is a VERY LOUD and HIGH pitch noise that is constantly beeping / chiming / buzzing whatever way you look at it. It's not a hard drive booting up or running noise.

It's coming from where ever the parking sensor chime speaker is. Does anyone know where that is located at?

I beleive those chimes are located on the rear of the instrument cluster.

Can you record the sound so we can hear what it sounds like?

The buzzer for the key fob stuff & door lock/unlock is - believe it or not - accessed by removing the left front fender!

The parking assist buzzer is behind the head unit on the glove box side of the dash. You have to remove the head unit to get to it... if the noise is loudest in the passenger footwell I'd suspect this "buzzer" unit.

Other sources of dash noises:
* screwed-up linkages in the air conditioner/heater ductwork controls... you can sometimes hear motors grinding away.

* Steering wheel tilt/telescope motor issues.

Is the sound mechanical? A constant frequency tone?

So I believe it was the parking assist buzzer which like you said is behind the head unit on the glove box side of the dash.

Funny thing is after I ordered the part and 3 days of driving the car with the noise it went away. So now I have the part and no buzzing noise.

I'll wait to fix it when it goes hey wire again.

Thanks for all your help.
