  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I noticed today as I was waxing my 4.6, that both of my outside mirror covers are cracked. I need a favor of everyone. Would you look at your and post if also cracked. Pictures are included. 7800 miles.

This is from under....on top I do not see anything cracking. First is driver side, second is passenger. It looks as if cracks were painted over....

Mnf date Nov 08.

My cracks are on the top. Don't know mfg. date, but purchased in October.

I would get that into the dealer.

Trying to think of things that might cause the plastic to crack.

Huge temp swings....

flying debris , but I expect you would have heard that.

overheating? The shell and the frame expand at different rates causing the cracks....

Do you have any other cracks on other external plastics?

bumpers? fuel panel?

Mine looks exactly the same as yours. I doubt this is a crack. It is too symetrical and exactly the same in both of my mirrors (and just like yours).

As are mine. It's definitely not a crack. Just a simple mold like from when the plastic mirrors are manufactured.

What about under mirrors? Looking at pictures posted by me, those are not molded.
