  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got my Oil/Filter change and driver side door lock assembly changed; got car back over the weekend. Noticed that road noise is much higher than it was before it went in. Looked under the car....and see quite a bit of HW exposed, when i thought that there should be panels covering the underside? Here are attached pics...pls let me know if anyone has any experience with:eek: this? Perhaps the noise is as a result of the dealer service not putting back the pannel(s)? Pls advice.
Thanks

Difficult to tell with the pictures you have however it does look like the panel is there. The exhaust system is never covered due to heat.

Road noise can be cased by the tires

check the tires air pressure

Will do today. Now, they did rotate the tires as part of the expensve 7500 miles service...but i thought i read somewere that tires are not rotatable unless one takes them off the wheel and remount. How does one tell the diretional naturewrt the correct mouting?

Thanks

I had the exact same experience re: road noise increase after first service, thread I started is somewhere. More engine noise and high frequency road noise. I even got a ticket driving the service manager around..

Never was resolved although I go in today to have door seals replaced.

I just did the oil/filter change on the 5.0

Looks like the rear panel is in place on yours

Check from the front - there is a wide front panel - looks like a big bat wing

Maybe take a picture at the front?

If the front panel was loose or gone - there would be a godawful noise. There is another thread devoted to the subject of the under panels being improperly replaced after and oil/filter change.

See pix for two front panel shots - big sucker - you can see the narrower rear panel behind it.

Changing the door lock assembly may have altered the pressure on the door seals thereby causing more wind noise.

So how did things turn out? - keeping us in suspense here.

I originally suspected the cowl cover replacement as the noise culprit. Rickkapur, did they perform the cowl cover replace TSB during your service?
Not sure. Will know Friday, as I made an appointment for having the issues checked. Thanks

Continental Tires on 2015 v8.
Are these Symmetrical, or unsymmetrical? Directional, or not?

I am very confused...looking at the tread, and researching online.

With a Tire Rotation, the road noise is increased substantially...and i am concerened if the dealer did the right rotation? Have an appt with them tomorrow AM.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Directional tires usually have an arrow imprinted on the sidewall showing their direction for mounting.

Look at the sidewall of the tires. If they are directional, they will have a little arrow pointing like this:

Thanks folks.

Update: Tires are symmetric.
Dealer sevice has kept the vehicle, and indicated that they will have all seals (incl the sun roof) checked by a body shop. I suspect, based on other threads i have read, it was a mistake for me to have them replace the driver side door lock assembly (which we did because it was harder to latch; but seems that was the extra effort that gave it the perfect seal). Well, we shall see.
Will keep you updated.
Thanks
