  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Today I had a good amount of liquid spill in my cup holders in the front seat area. The liquid apparently drained out somewhere before i could fully clean it up. Will this cause any harm to my car or will i just have a lingering smell in my car for a while?

No one? So far no issues though. Just a lingering smell that should go away.

thats good to hear - by the way use some wd40 if the buttons get sticky due to the liquid.

Probably depends on how much liquid is spilled. I know that the Air Bag Control Unit is directly below the stereo knob which is directly in front of the cup holders on the 2012-2014 model Genesis. However, the probable location of where the liquid drained is the opposite direction, towards the rear of the cabin.

Curious how the liquid drained out. While I haven't thoroughly checked mine, aren't they "sealed" at the bottom?

didnt know this before but if you lift up the little plastic thing in the cup holder there are a few small slits at the base of the cup holders.

By the way, I have a 2011

Thanks for the heads up. I will check mine and those slits will be sealed as of tomorrow sir.

Yikes.

I'll have to take a look and create some sort of seal. Thanks for the heads up.

Don't remember seeing any slits when I took the center console out but if they do exist and it drains straight down, it is directly above the Airbag control Unit. Feel like Hyundai would be smarter than this.
