  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

help me please, unsure where to ask

Ouch! That looks like one hell of a gash...I'm not an insurance claim expert but that looks like it could cost $8-10K to repair...

I've been hearing lately that these walls come out of nowhere and rip through people's car. Gotta be careful out there man!

There's a property owner in Vermont looking for repairs to his concrete wall. He's at the police station now, attempting to find the culprit. So where is the perp? He's here, trying to make a plan to flee the state. Or, he could report the accident to the police, as required by law. Yes, then the next step is contact his insurance company.

haha, no it was my aunts home and yes i already filed a police report they looked at the damage and will send me the report via mail in a few weeks..

thanks a lot guys for the help, comments and sarcasm..

already submitted a claim, plan is to leave the car with hyundai for now and fly back. The insurance agent will call me once they assess and they are ok with the local hyundai taking care of it.

I am still waiting for hyundai to give me an estimate for the time and money it would take as well as how would they transport it back to NY.

Do not leave the car with them. Drive it back home, find one of the best body shop in town, that is specialized in fixing high-end cars.....insurance is paying for it.

I agree leaving it with a non local dealership and having them either supervise or do the actual repair is IMO a HUGE MISTAKE and one the OP will pay for OVER AND OVER down the road if this route is taken.

PLEASE, PLEASE take heed and follow dareckibmw's sage advice.

Since the damage on your car seems not to involve any sensor or any important electronic device that will need to be calibrated by the dealer I would go with the best body shop in your area, as said before one that do high end brands on a daily basis.

I forgot to mention, but it might be worthwhile to go to your local dealership and ask one of the service writers which body shop they use that would be good to handle your car. I did this and the one that was recommended had a lot of higher end vehicles many Hyundai Genesis/Equus on their board in for repairs and they did an outstanding job for my minor fender bender repair. This is one area that your local dealership might be actually helpful.

ahoy mates

i was steaming across the North Atlantic and misjudged my right side and hit the iceburg and made a huge gash on the starboard side. As you can see, the side cleat is gone, the portholes are not working, and we're taking on water. I am near Newfoundland now and hopefully heading back tomo to NYC. I plan to have it towed it to the White Star Lines dry dock in Nova Scotia for now. I am planning to talk to them tomo, as soon as I get this lifeboat situation straightened out. My questions are:

1. will it be possible for them to do something with the r side cleat tomo?

2. should i radio insurance and start claim or will White Star Line service help me with the claim?

3. can anyone give me a rough estimate of the time needed for the repairs and/or the cost it it is the only exterior damage that is seen?

thanks

p.s. Prathik, not to make light of your situation - I do feel for you.
