Long story, fair warning and sorry ahead of time.
So... I purchased a 2015 Genesis 3.8 Tech on 4/27. I traded in a 2013 Honda Accord (ick). Honda called me 2 days ago (5/20) to let me know my payment on my Honda Accord was 3 days late. Upon checking, my Honda still wasn't paid off. I checked the DMV and my plates were still registered to my old Honda Accord. I tried calling the Hyundai dealership I dealt with over a 2 day period leaving a couple voicemails with different people, to no avail (no call backs and every phone call being met with "the team is busy").
I leave work an hour early today to speak with the dealership in person. I'm told the packet was next-day shipped to Hyundai finance. The packet was received and signed for by Hyundai Finance. They called Hyundai Finance and they will contact the dealership when they have more info (no eta).
I am in limbo right now...
Problem 1: My first payment on my new car is due on 5/25. I have no account number or payment info to send to or associate with. I will probably be late for my first payment.. but my paperwork won't even go through before the payment is due.
Problem 2: My payment on my old Honda is overdue. Honda recommends I make the payment but to BE SURE to get reimbursed by the dealership first as I will lose that money when the payoff happens. The dealership just tells me to pay it and I will get a check, which is what Honda warns me not to do because the check goes to the dealership.
Problem 3: My old car is still registered to my plates on my new car. This means I need to pay my personal property tax ($400) on my old car before 6/5 or risk being late. I have no proof my car was sold outside my documents, which mean nothing because none of it was submitted yet. I need proof, which is the submission to the DMV in order to get a proper pro-rated bill.
The dealership said I need to wait for Hyundai to get back with them or me. They also recommended I call them to fix the issue (Hyundai Finance).
What do I do? Where do I go from here? The dealership is washing their hands of responsibility even though I was told by the business office that there are 2 queues where applications sit. Mine sat in the 'Approved' queue for 30 days. It never moved over the the 'In Contract' queue. They don't monitor 'Approved' so it's not their fault, it's Hyundai Finance.
Where do I go from here? This is nuts!!
