  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I currently have a 2010 4.6 sedan w/ tech package, got it around 90k miles from a service writer at a Hyundai dealership so I know it was maintained well, and I checked the service records myself. Within about 3 years, I have it up to 178k miles, and I am ready to get another car, either a newer Genesis (maybe, heard there were issues 2017/2018 etc.) or a Lexus (either LS or GS, yes less horsepower, unfortunately).

My question is really if getting rid of it would be any easier/harder now rather than waiting a bit for it until the fall (prices come down for buying another car) except for the fact that it'd be closer to 200k at that point. I have been on these forums a lot, and don't believe I've seen someone make it to 200k.

Has been reliable for me (for the most part), I do oil changes every 3-5k with full synthetic. At around 150k I had to do a new battery/alternator/starter (dealer couldn't make up their mind), brakes done at 100k and 165k (new pads+rotors), and at 174k the fuel pump assembly had to be replaced. Currently, it is only a few weeks since the fuel pump, and this morning my CEL came on, blinking, and as I went to pull over, it turned off. I just dropped it off today to have it fixed as I was able to make it the few miles drive, and am assuming it to be something to do with coil packs/spark plugs as it was probably a misfire, felt like that too when it occurred.

At this point, is it worth trying to make it last another 6 months or so? Or is it better to try and get rid of it asap when I get it back?
