  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all!

I drive 1997 Camry, and I think it’s about time I get a new ride… haha. Please advise!

I was offered $28000 for 2009 HD Genesis V6 BASE model. I’ve been reading this forum, and it seems like a very good deal; unless I missed something. With its MSRP at $33000, I think this is a great deal IMO.

I was also offered of $37000 for HD Genesis V6 TECH($3000 less MSRP); seems like a great deal unless I am missing something…

I have 750+ credit and 7.5% I was offered is very high... I am gonna check Bank of America for auto loan rates... With 7.5% it's very difficult for me to finance $35000+. $28000 I can kind of handle it and prepay once I make more money... ha!

Question:

1. What is the difference between basic halogen lights vs. HID optional lighting? (other then the fact that it auto levels and rotates?) is HID much brighter? is halogen just yellow light compared to blue or white lights i see on the road (Xenon)?

2. Is HID same as Xenon lights?

3. HOW IS NAVIGATION on Genesis? I've heard that Acura/Honda has one of the best in the industry. How does NAVIGATION on Genesis match upto the rest like Acura/Honda?

Thank you all, and happy new year!

I got a Genesis V6 TECH for 36,575. I also had another dealer offer me 35,898 for a V6 TECH, so I believe you can do better that 37,000.

So far the Navigation system has been excellent in my Genesis. I live in NJ/NY area.

Jason,
Research edmunds.com for the invoice price. Once you have this factor subtract the current $1K dealer rebate and the $599 doc fee (which is almost pure profit for the dealer). This will give you a good idea of the dealer cost without knowing the inner workings of the car industry.

From this make an offer.

Also, consider leasing the vehicle for 27 months. The lease finance rate is almost $0. Then after 27 months you know the residual and can buy the car then or negotiate a better price for the car.

I got a GREAT deal on the V8 with Tech using this method. Personally I dont like buying a first year car like this because we have no idea how the value will hold up in 3-4 years. Good luck with whatever you chose.

That's basically the deal I was able to get back in September. I thought it was a fair price for a base model.

I think 7.5% is pretty high, I'd fight with them to get it lower or check financing from other sources (perhaps a credit union if you happen to be a member, some credit unions around my area are offering high 4.x low 5.x rates, it's even worth it to pay $10 to join to get rates like that). I think with your credit score you should be able to get in the 5% range pretty easily even without "special" financing.

Good Luck!

It would be nice to add the NAVIGATION as an a la carte other than adding Premium Plus package as well as TECH package ($3000 + $4000 MSRP)...

I never had the moon/sunroof in my life, and had that been included, that would've been AWESOME!...

how is this base HALOGEN LIGHT? Bright? Or is it not as bright as HID or Xenon?

I wonder how much value this vehicle would hold up in future.

This is a cool forum here. Thank you for your help guys!

If the 7.5% is dealer financing it likely includes at least a $1000 kickback to the dealer for originating the loan. They may not give you a $28,000 price if you get your own financing.

I was pre-approved with a 4.75% for 60 months from Bank of America and I got 4.65% from the dealer. 7.5% is extremely high with your credit score.

Try Costco for financing (affiliated with Capital One). I got 5.05% and their process was easy.

Yea, but $28,000 is extremely low purchase price (even for base model), so the two may be related.

You can certainly do better with your APR.
The fancy headlights are nice but not a necessity.
The navigation system is not nearly as good as a basic Garmin yet is hugely more expensive.
Resale on the Genesis should be excellent.
I suggest the base V6 car with the premium package as the most car for the money.

I paid $30,954 for a V6 Premium with trunk matt & net.
