If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I removed the lite assembly from inside the trunk, then disconnected the cable
and had the lense and housing in one piece.I can't separate the lense from the housing to get to the bulb.Anyone do this,I would appreciate any input.

Many thanks,JNP

I had a 2009, and the bulb separation was easy. But on my 2012 it seems the bulb is well sealed inside the assembly, meaning Hyundai wants you to replace the entire assembly instead of just a bulb.
On my 2012 I simply broke into the assembly to reach the bulb. Just be careful not to molest the mounting tabs. I used a little Dremel cut-off wheel to cut an access port.

thanks for reply Ray.Just how easy was it to get to the bulb.I tried to pry it loose with a screwdriver flat blade.I could only get one end to come up some
but not the other. The manual says gently separate the lens from the housing
but I can't get itThanks JNP

To separate the black housing from the clear housing you need to use 2 small flat blade screw drivers.
On one side you have 2 black post that extend into the clear housing they have small tabs on them the prevent the housing from coming apart.
Slide a small flat blade screw drive between each black post. Than you can gently use another screw driver and pry up from the other side. you will do this for the glove box lamp change as well.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Fiat.I did it your way and it was a piece of cake! However I can't see
how the 6418 bulb that I put in license plate will fit the trunk housing because
it's at least 1/4" longer. Are the trunk bulbs a different number?
thanks again

These are the bulbs that I used for each location. I purchased them at superbrightleds.com

2 EACH TRUNK= part # 3710-XHP6
2 EACH PLATE= part # 3710-XHP3
1 EACH GLOVE BOX= part # 3710-XHP3
4 - 1 FOR EACH DOOR PUDDLE= part # WLED-XHP (THESE ARE Polarized bulbs IF AT FIRST THEY DON'T WORK TURN THEM 180deg AND REINSERT THEM.

I did not use a 6418 bulb.

I purchased my bulbs at http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...57&product=CAR

Are the 3710 led bulbs longer than the 6418? do you have to do any modifications?

The 3710 bulbs are a little longer than the original installed bulbs.
I had to pinch the metal brackets that holds the bulb in a little bit but getting them to fit was no problem.

I used the 3022-CWHP4 LEDs from superbrightleds and they fit perfect. The 37mm were just too long and I couldn't get the housing back together. (I also have 2 left hands)
The 3022s do a very good job in the trunk and I'm sure they are more than enough in the glove compartment.
