  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
I just bought a 2009 hyundai genesis 4.6 only 60k miles ,i love the vehicile but i dont like how tight the steering is i feel like i have to use to much force to turn the wheel esp a u turn...is this nornal for this vehicle?

No, not normal. The steering is easy and smooth even when turning a tight corner or making a u-turn. I bought my Genesis new and it just hit 50K yesterday. Other than the power seat motor not working, I have had no issues with the car.

I have a 2009 3.8 with almost 90k miles and haven't faced any issues with steering. If anything, would like it to be a little tight. An easy place to start might be the power steering fluid level. On a 10 year old car, these things tend to get overlooked.

I think how the steering feels is a subjective thing. The steering in the first gen. Genesis is heavier than most luxury cars such as Cadillac.

Steering is our cars is heavier than most luxury cars. This is not a 1970's steer with one finger Caddy. Compared to my Camaro with adjustable electric steering boost (Touring, Sport, Track), the Genesis is very similar to Sport.

If you're struggling to turn the wheel at low speed (parking lots, u-turns, etc.) then the power unit may be failing. If it completely failed you would know... you wouldn't be able to turn the wheel at all.
