A couple thoughts in response:What doesn’t make sense to me is having to rent an ICE vehicle from Hertz anytime I have to venture out of my bubble, just to compensate for the shortcomings of an EV.
I‘m saving ~$1500/yr in fuel costs. That easily covers the cost/hassle if I would need to rent something for a few days a year.
I’m not sure how common @steveinarizona ’s desire/need to rent for his trip is. It could just be a function of charging availability where he is going and/or his own level of comfort.
I took a number of road trips in my GV60 soon after receiving it - a couple to some pretty remote places - and managed fine. Going off The beaten path is certainly not a care-free experience right now, as it requires a fair bit of planning, and potentially having back ups In place. It isn’t for everyone, but is manageable in many cases.
