  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone , nice to join u all & yes i am a proud owner of a new 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 w/tech package Sapphire Blue Pearl (told em i wanted it in black & when i arrived at the dealed to see it , i bumped into the blue one & as they say the rest is history) anyway i've had it for 24 hours now & very happy even though my wife is like u brought a what for how much LMAO, like she knows about cars all of a sudden. I'll have some pics to post real soon but one question i have is does anyone know what size bulbs are in the fog lights ? i plan on installing HID's in the fogs to match my HID's in the headlights, thank in advance & enjoy

Re: I am now a proud owner of a Genesis

hey thank alot WORDMAN that helped me out alot so now i dont have to pull it out to find out, im going to install a set of HID lights in the fog lights from www.fashtek.com. i might order the 3000k set for the yellowish color or just go with the 8000k to give me the same brightness as the headlights, thanks again. Now im looking for the badge(wing type) that says genesis that goes on the rear truck & the front hood ???

Re: I am now a proud owner of a Genesis

you know another thought of mine is when u start the car if u walk away with the key in your pocket the car will beep to let u know you r moving away from the car with the key but if someone got in the car they would still be able to drive away , it seems to me that the car should shut down when the key is taking away from the car while its running, im also planning on taking the car back to the dealer this week to have a remote starter installed by them

Re: I am now a proud owner of a Genesis

I actually like that feature - it lets me pull the car up to my mail box, get out, get my mail, and get back in without turning off the engine.

Korean Auto Imports are advertising a HID kit for the main or fog lamps for $495. See http://www.koreanautoimports.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=2215.

Are you sure it won't shut down if it's put in gear while the key is away? Most cars with remote starters behave that way, it would be surprising if it was the case with the Genesis too.

Welcome aboard, Maddmoe! Thank you for signing up and congratulations on your new Hyundai Genesis!

yea, they will but they betta keep it running because wherever they go, once they cut it off..thas it.

thats why i have aan appointment with the dealer on friday to egt the remote starter installed so this way if i start the car with the remote starter if someone should get in and step on the brake it will shut the car down

First thing I did after reading your post was to see which part of the country your in. Yes of course, New york, NY. My hometown is nyc as well, I know just how paranoid you have to be when your living in the big apple. :D

FWIW, both Acura and BMW (with comfort access) do the same, they let you know by beeping but doesn't turn off. so i guess someone can get in and drive away, but as soon as they turn off the engine, they are stuck, because it won't start again without the key.

... or just go with the 8000k to give me the same brightness as the headlights, thanks again.

The 8000k will not give you the "same" brightness as your headlights. If you have OEM HID's, the closest to the same output is 4500k. 8000k will emit more blue color than brightness. IMO, anything above 6000k is just for show and no functionality. The truest white brightness is 4300-4500k. 5000k has a hint of blue but doesn't take away from light output, kinda like what you see in BMW's, Merc's, and such. Get HID educated before you make a wrong decision. (no inflammatory comment intended). :)

By the way, :welcome:

I'm sorry but "I guess" isn't really a confirmation of anything. Has anybody ACTUALLY DRIVEN AWAY WITHOUT THE KEY on any of those cars?

I have driven the car after the wife has taken the key out of the car and gone into the house, but the car was still in D when she got out and then I parked the car in the garage. There was a lot of beeping and let me know the key was out of the car but it still drove.
