If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everybody, I'm Chris. I just purchased a 2014 Genesis 5.0 R-Spec last week. Parisian gray with 26k miles on it. I traded in my Cadillac SRX Performance AWD for it and already like the Genesis way better.

I have a question about a couple things though. I was browsing through kdm motors website and they list the 9-13 Genesis models and 15-16 models. But why is 14 not included? It all appears to be the same body styling as the 13 at least, so not sure if I can shop for 13 parts..

It also seems like the 14 is an avoided year? Looking up google info or youtube videos yeilds little to no results for the 14 but tons for other years.

I did not get an owners manual with my car for some reason and have been trying to get the dealer to get me one but I have not been able to find an online owners manual to look at.

I would like to consider getting electronic exhaust valves, and maybe doing something with the intake. I'll be getting the windows tinted in this coming week also so that should look good.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to learning more about them.

Just sending a quick "Welcome!", Chris! Thank you for signing up and congratulations on your R-Spec Genesis!

The 2014 R-Spec is identical to the 2013 R-Spec. It's hard to find because it was a very short run (only a few months) and then the 2015 was introduced. It is not an avoided car but just very hard to find since a very small number of them was produced for the 2014 year. Find the 2013 manual - it will match your car completely. The 2013/2014 Genesis is supposed to be the best Generation 1 car since all (or most) of the issues were supposedly worked out.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
If you go to www.myhyundai.com and register, you can download all the manuals in PDF format.

I am not so sure that the 2014 is identical to the 2013 in all respects, so I would be careful about parts. I have no idea which "kdm motors website" site is being talked about. Can you provide a link?

geops is correct that it was a shorter manufacturing run than normal.

Hey thank you for the replies! Very interesting to know about the low production.

The website I was referring to was www.kdm-motors.com .. I got it from a thread on here.

I was able to find a owners manual for the 13. Still weird to me though nothing is really provided for the 14 even with those circumstances.

My Genesis does seem to have a few bugs that are not huge issues but kind of sucks because you know they are suppose to work. Mostly with my headlights. They have the auto leveling and adaptive cornering in them, yet only once have I seen the headlights auto level on start up and have never actually turned like they are supposed to in a corner. My Cadillac had the same features which were extremely noticeable so to not see them working correctly here is an annoyance, I will have to have the dealer look it over.

I'm really interested in the front lip that they have for this car
http://www.kdm-motors.com/collections/hyundai/products/copy-of-adro-ad-elantra-grille-16-shipped I just hope it fits correctly on the 14.

Seems like a lot of people on here are up in the air about finding a good sounding, throaty, non droning exhaust. Seems to be a very picky exhaust system. That's why I was hoping to just go the exhaust bypass/cutout/electronic valve route.

Also reading a lot on the intake's.. seems like the best option is to just upgrade the filters? I haven't seen any updates in the threads about companies producing an intake for the 5.0 R-Spec.

Thanks for the help!

Here's a couple dealer pics of her, I will be taking my own after I get a couple things taken care of

There is an intake for you car. It's made by R2C and fits the 5.0 and the 4.6. I cannot help about the exhaust but I know some people on the forum have experimented with those.
The headlights only do the cornering thing if they're set to auto. If you manually turn them on, that function does not work. Other than that, they should auto-level at every car startup.

Thanks for the info, I will have to check R2C out.

That's the thing, the switch has been on auto the whole week I've had the car. I'll have to test some more with it.

Hi Chris and welcome to the forum. I also own a 2014 R-spec and LOVE it. The only upgrade the '14 has is the heated steering wheel as far as I know. And, my headlights don't do the cornering thing either. The dealer would have to pull the dash to fix it, so I have decided to live without it.

Regards,
Bill

Hey thanks all for the input!

I found an online owners manual for the 13' R-Spec . It is a little different than my 14' but overall works out. Biggest thing I notice is there is no tiny little key fob holder pocket in the dash, but instead a full tray that slides out right above the cigarette lighter.

My biggest annoyance with the car since I have gotten it is the radio and the presets. I wish you could delete the unwanted preset pages that you don't need, and mix your xm and fm stations on the presets together like most other car manufactures let you do. But that's just a minor overall annoyance.

The car was already debadged when I bought it, but I wish the previous owner left the badges with it at least, now I have to buy them if I want them put back on.. I might be crazy but I was considering removing the Genesis sedan wings emblem and putting on a blacked out Genesis coupe wings emblem with the circle around it. Have you seen anyone do that? I like the look of the coupe emblem better and think it would look just as good on the sedan.

Here is an updated pic of the car today after I got the windows tinted last week. I ended up getting a 20% ceramic tint. Going to get a tinted sun strip on the windshield here soon too.
