  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

You made the right choice, unless you have an unlimited supply of motor oil at your disposal.

Mark, you miss no opportunity to obsess over how bad you believe the 5.0 GDI engine is, even if it's irrelevant to the OP's thread. With its last oil change, my 5.0 used 1 quart in 7,800 miles with more than 30k on the car.
That hardly requires me to have an unlimited supply of motor oil.

I'd be more patient with these remarks if they came from someone who has actually had the kind of problems you imply, which of course, several here have had.

Welcome! Glad to have you aboard!

An alarming number of 5.0 GDI owners have reporting their engine using a lot oil, something that I thought was solved by most engine manufacturers at least twenty years ago. Before the 5.0 GDI, I never saw one single complaint in this forum about oil consumption from any Genesis 4.6 owners. An not all 5.0 GDI owners have the problem, which makes it even more alarming IMO. So if someone is OK with 333 HP (as OP apparently is) then my point was that the V6 was good choice for a couple of reasons.

If there is such a thing as a petroleum fetish, we know who has it.

I knew you'd have the last word - and an alarming one at that.

I swear that I have never been aroused by motor oil. I may be obsessed with motor oil, but I don't have a fetish.
