  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello i have 2015 3.8 awd. I have projector headlamps but no hid. I want to upgrade to LED because it is simple installation. I was thinking about these

Blue color 45watt led kit.
Anybody have experience with this kit or have done LED over HID?

Unless you are only driving in the city I would recommend HID over LED.
IMO LED's do not yet have the ability to reach out far enough to be a good replacement for incandescent bulbs.
The ideal color choice is 4300K and anything over 5000K is too blue to be effective in rain or wet road conditions.

Yes! Absolutely correct.

LED is not just a bulb replacement. I did go to the OP's link (xenonpro) and it indicated that there was no LED kit for the Genesis sedan. LED is difficult to implement aftermarket. Dynamic LED lighting is fantastic, but it requires integration of the vehicle's digital system to get the features that make it great. Aftermarket dynamic LED will need to wait for a standard.

Yup, you will get crappy results with LED bulb upgrade. You will get some horrible hot spots and weird funky light patterns. Also the ballast of either HID or LED kit might trigger your TPMS malfunction light, this is due to EMI.

I didn't realize the OP is driving a coupe. Sorry.

I have sedan not a coup. And there is the kit for our cars. I already bought one dor my wife’s 2016 hyundai accent and it looks amazing.
My prior experience i installed HID kit in my 2010 genesis coupe 2.0T and i had to replace the bulb every year or so.

Looks are deceiving and LED's scatter light and create a lot of foreground lighting that people consider desirable but in reality it draws your focus to that near area and not downroad where you should be focused.

I have been driving on aftermarket relatively inexpensive HID's since 2005 and have maybe burned out a couple of bulbs and a ballast for a total cost of $30 or so dollars.
HID's traditionally have an expected lifespan of 3,000 hours (about 90,000 miles for the average driver), many consider HID headlights a "lifetime" bulb that never needs to be replaced.
Here's what I would buy over any LED's https://www.xenonpro.com/h11-low-beams-xenon-hid-headlights-kit

How would those HID work on our car. Isnt our car have low/high dual?

I have the G80 Ultimate, hence the DBL LED lights. I love them, as the very crisp white light makes everything appear sharper, to my 70 year old eyes. I detect no bluish tint to them, as you see in some car headlights. The range seems adequate on high beam. Using the auto high beam feature, makes using high beams easier and safer. I would never buy a new car without LED lights.

So you like your current LED over HID

Jumping in here. . . Regular lights are a 5. HID are about an 8, LED are a solid 10. Nice white light.

Why do u like led more than hid?

I like it better, basically because of the very crisp white light. This may be more important to old folk like me (70+) Some say the high beams don't project as far as HID, however, I have not noticed any problem with the LED high beams. They illuminate the road well. In a head to head test, with measurements, it may be that the HID lights project further but it is not anything I notice. Also my G80 has DBL (dynamic bending light) LED headlights. Sensors detect movement of the vehicle along with steering input and turn the lights in the diretion of the turn or curve.

you do realize if you want his setup you will need to replace both headlights and not just add LED bulbs right?

Cool, and even when you do swap the headlights to the G80 ones you will not get the DBL functions either, 2400 is a lot for new headlights without the cool features.

Im not necessarily swapping out to G80. Just aftermarket led kit for headlights instead of HID kit
