  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just took delivery of a 2016 Genesis 3.8 with Signature, Technology, and Ultimate packages.

I noticed that a gap exists between the high brake light and the glass. It is very distracting because the red light illuminates the rear parcel shelf.

Does anyone know if the high brake light can be adjusted closer to the glass? If not, I will just cover the gap with gaffers tape.

yes. very common and well known problem. the rubber part of the light disintegrates from exposure and the whole light assembly must be replaced. search this forum and you will find info about the part and a diy to replace it. I bought the light for about $220 and replaced it myself.

or - a nicely cut and placed piece of black tape will "repair" it for less than $5.

I tried black tape but it was tacky (pun intended). Maybe on a Yugoslavia, but not on a classy ride like a Genesis. 😄

Cant even see mine unless i lay my head back on the rear shelf - but I was real careful and cut my tape so it looks like it belongs there - cant really see it unless you know what it is. I guess i'm a little cheap, lol

I had mine replaced under warranty just before the 5/60 bumper to bumper expired. They had to replace the entire light since they don't just sell the gasket. Service tech did not clean the area up before installing the new part so its got a bunch of the pervious gasket smear still visible when viewing thru the window outside. Oh well. I should have reported it to the service manager but didn't. My bad. Out of B2B warranty now so I will just have to live with it.

In located in the South West USA and internal car temperatures can reach over 140 degrees. Any sticky tape adhesive will melt under those conditions.
