  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have noticed over the past 6 months of owning my car that other drivers at night seem to highbeam "flicker" me. Ill be driving down the street with no highbeams on and people will filck their highbeams at me trying to indicate that I have mine on.

Is anyone else having this happen? Are our headlights at a higher level then other cars?

The HID low-beam headlights on the Genesis are quite a bit brighter than conventional headlights so some drivers might think you have your high-beams on even if you don't. Also some people's eyes are more sensitive to the blue-white hue of the HID lights. The HID's have a built-in levelling device that keeps them at a set height parallel to the road, so unless your headlights are mal-adjusted (too far to the left) they shouldn't interfere with oncoming drivers.

That makes a lot of sense. Except that I was told I didnt have HID lights since I had the base line V6 Genny. I hope I do have the HID lights but I dont have any information in any of the books that Hyundai gave me that says I do.

I get some flashes in hilly terrain. My HID lights are bright enough that dips in the road occasionally make them look like high beams.

I don't think the base car does have HID, in which case I would have your headlight alignment checked as they may be set too high. You would know if they are HID as they have a distinctive blue/white colour and when you first switch them on at night you will see the light beams change position as they go through their self-levelling routine.

Looked at my headlight level compared to other sedans as my friend has a BMW 3 series, and a Nissan Altima and at a set distance all three headlights were at the same height on the wall so it isn't the height of them it must be something odd or maybe they just hate my car.
