  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, I am the new owner of a 2012 Genesis 3.8 with about 42k miles on it. I've been driving it for a few weeks now and today I noticed a hissing/high pitch noise while driving (with the windows closed). The noise is audible but low when idling and increases as I accelerate.

I will look into it this weekend but in the meanwhile I would greatly appreciate if you guys/gals had any pointers for me.

It might be useful to point out that my car idles at 500-600rpm when warm.

Thanks for the help!

Have someone slowly increase the rpm while you listen under the hood.

Could be a leak at exhaust connection, alternator bearing going, etc.

If it's coming from your speakers, do you have an aux port plugged in? The aux port gives off a little bit of electricial static , sounds like a hissing noise, and the noise gets higher pitched due to the alternator spinning faster as your RPMs increase. Unplug the port and see if it goes away.
