  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've had my G70 for almost 3 months to the day and yesterday I noticed this when parked in a parking lot. By the looks of it, it's likely that the person parked next to me clipped the edge of my bumper leaving their parking stall.

I took it to a body shop today and they took a bunch of photos and said that the whole rear bumper and the rear moulding around the exhaust will need to be replaced. So the big question is how long it will take to get these parts for a brand new car model that likely doesn't have many parts in the pipeline yet. I won't be surprised if it will need to come from Korea.

Ouch that sucks!
Are you going through insurance?

rough news Van_Nik. the first 'scratch' is always a hard pill to swallow, but getting clipped like that is brutal. few things i have less tolerance for than people who don't own up to their actions - hit and runs being near the top of that list. as in many areas, Vancouver is ripe with questionably qualified drivers who lack common sense and vehicle control. result = sensible people lose.

let us know how the repair process and part ordering goes.

You shouldn't have issues with getting parts. All those parts are available in the US, and Canada has had the vehicles longer than we have.

Had this happen by an RV'er to a John Works Mini we had. It pays to have front and rear dash cameras. It's a good investment in the future. I understand your pain. Sorry it happened.

the G80 Sport has been out approx. 10 months, and all the rear bumper parts from my accident were on back order -OR- customs import hold.

it took 4 days to do the work, 5 weeks to get the parts with the car in the shop, the shop had ordered some of the visible parts 7 weeks before I brought it in, once the car was torn down, other parts had to be ordered, so all told 12 weeks of back ordered parts.

I spoke to a parts guy at the local Hyundai dealership on Friday. He said that the bumper and the moulding around the tailpipe for the G70 are stocked in Canada and at worst a 4-5 day delivery to Vancouver.

Awesome news, and props to our northern brothers for guarding against the white walkers and having G70 parts available.

That sucks man. That time of year too, everyone be careful out there. Had a friend hanging out this weekend zip over to grab some MCD for lunch for everyone while we were busy around the house and I almost told her to take the G70 but never got to it. Her car was hit in the same way. The lady didn't do as much damage and more to her car than my friends but she's like I didn't see you (they were parked right next to each other). My GTI had, in under 6 weeks of getting it, noticeable dints in 3 of the 4 doors. I have one in each door now in under a year. People are so careless these days it drives me nuts. Wife almost went off on a guy that parked his F-150 in a small car parking next to our G70 at the rec centre the other day. Thankfully no damage she said.

Never seen a story about something like this happening, where a note has been left with an apology & all the necessary contact info. Seems decent people are badly outnumbered by scum. I'll take dogs over people almost every time.

Sorry this happened.
