  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, after months of anticipation, research, and smart shopping; even getting all of the KDM Emblems for the car, I get the news that HMFC would only approve a payment of 475$ monthly on my V8 Tech lease. Apparently, the jump from my Honda Accord payments of 320 a month to a Genesis is too risky for them to allow. They want want about 5000 down to hop down into that monthly payment, which is illogical in the scenario some idiot totals my vehicle, and I won't be seeing that down payment again.

Credit is flawless. 10% CL utilization, house paid off, car paid off, steady 75k job, zero delinquencies, with a FICO across all three bureaus well up there that would qualify for the best mortgage rates. I'm shocked that I was denied for full credit.

What a disappointment. I always lease my vehicles due to tax purposes, and I have never had any issues with my past vehicles.

The funny thing is, on my way home, I stopped by my local BMW dealership (friend works there), as I was previously considering the 5-series. I put together a nicely equipped 5-series (Twin Turbo - I'll Vishnu it) with DSG for European delivery, and I was approved through BMWFS with no questions asked.

My current vehicle matures in a few weeks. While I haven't decided on the 5 Series yet, I will most likely be going ahead with it, mixing the European Delivery with high residuals gets the payment to nearly that of what I would be paying for the Hyundai.

This forum is great. I had nothing but positive experiences with you all and I learned a lot about the vehicle based on fellow owners and prospective owners. Thank you all for the great times! Try not to burn it up on the freeway too much :)

PS - If anyone wants to buy my KDM Badges (Rear/Front), 18'' Wheel Caps (The Premium Plus ones), the KDM airbag unit (black), another KDM Airbag sticker, and a full set of license plate brackets for rear/front, PM me.

Good luck guys!

I am surprised. There could be some error in that. The economy currently might squeeze auto loans, news reports says. During boom time, I was approved by Honda, BMW and Hyundai. I have just a touch more incomes than you and zero debt. My credit score was something like 770 (BMW provided) a few years back.

I have not tried auto financing yet since the economic crisis (which induces credit crisis) but what I heard is it's somewhat harder to get (unless you are getting vehicles from american manufacturers these days). You can try auto loan from banks. What "tax advantages" do you have with leasing (if I may ask) ?

No idea why this would be if your credit is as you say it is. This is from Hyundai's site. They are advertising $399/mo. Maybe they just made a mistake? I am unaware of any real tax advantages to leasing.

There are no tax advantages to leasing. Whether you lease, or purchase (and then claim depreciation on your tax return), you still get a deduction (and usually you get a bigger deduction in the initial year for depreciation).

In either case, you must only deduct that part of the lease payment or that part of the depreciation based on what percent of the car used for business purposes. Some mistakenly believe that you can legally deduct the entire cost of a lease payment on car that is partly for personal use.

It would be my business car - Company provides a 500$ stipend. Would be more for the company's deduction than mine.

You can always negotiate the prices down, even on lease specials. I happened to negotiate down a V8 Tech from 42100 MSRP to 37850 Negotiated Cost, to about 590$ a month, with everything rolled in.

Apparently the GM of the dealership kept escalating the concern until he hit a VP in HMFC, which still turned turned the original payments down. If they actually had a Security Deposit program that'd reduce the MF similar to BMW, I wouldn't have an issue, but that down payment is too steep to risk in an event of something happening to the vehicle. Just thinking about it - 115$ a month difference? Man, that sucks

BTW the Wheel caps are for the Premium Plus Wheels V6 Wheels, they would still fit the V8, but not as pretty as the genuine contoured ones - See below what they would look like on a V8 (As per some PMs)

I paid $1800 down and am paying $580/mo including CA 8.75% sales tax on my V8 tech for 3 yrs/36k miles .... credit score was a 790. Leased thru our S-Corp with a personal guaranty.

Update: I was able to reach an agreement with HMFC, which was not as crazy as the original offer.

Ended up putting 2200 down including first month, and at 525 monthly.

Man, after having it over the memorial weekend, I am sure glad I didn't take my 5-series offer that I had, this is just so much more car.

I can't wait till I get tints and the magnaflow system setup on it - Pictures soon!

Congrats and enjoy. Is this a v6 tech or v8 tech?
