  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Need some help. Just bought a 2015 Genesis 3.8. For life of me, I can't figure out what these holes are for. Any insight on this is greatly appreciated.

if you pull the carpet back where it is sliced between the holes you will see your VIN stamped into the chassis. This is a new Federal requirement that I believe went into effect in 2017, but car manufacturers that were not changing or updating their models prior to the compliance date started rolling it out in 2014/2015.

My last 3 vehicles had this, though Lexus did a better job of hiding it than Genesis has. The point I guess is to be able to identify stolen cars/parts, you might note your VIN is now stamped on all parts, doors, trunks, hood, etc.

Some companies like Genesis use those special decals that tear when removed, like license plate registration stickers, others like Toyota/Lexus actually stamp the VIN into the steel.
