  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I own a 2012 Genesis Sedan 3.8 Premium with about 6,800 miles. About 2-3 months ago I pulled into my driveway and pushed my home link button on my rearview mirror to lift the single car garage door (we have a single car garage door and a double car garage door, each with separate rolling code openers) so I could put my Genesis in the garage. Imagine my surprise when BOTH garage doors went up! I pushed the home link button again and they both went down! I reset the home link on my Genesis and didn't think too much more about it.

Guess what, it happened again just this week! I have no idea how or why this is happening and wondered if anyone else had ever had this occur.

Still loving the Genesis!:D

I'd like to get out the manual and learn to program the other buttoms to turn on lights in my house etc. I'm assuming I need some sort of "contraption" in the house that plugs into the appliance. would be pretty conveneient for sure.

I've done a little reading about how key fobs, garage door openers and the Homelink system works. Initially I was thinking it would be a one in a million chance that the unintended garage doors code matched but it turns out the odds are closer to one in a billion.

One little detail I learned was do not press a button on your remote 257 or more times without being in range of the receiver. If you do they will loose sync and have to be re-paired. When they are synced they (transmitter & receiver) share a key code used to calculate a unique code for every transmission. Because it's common to accidentally press a button on the remote when not in range of the receiver the receiver also accepts the next 256 correct codes in the sequence.
