  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Home screen freezes up

The SiriusXM "channel no change" issue seems to have been resolved some time this weekend. I last experienced the issue Friday Feb 12 around 5:00pmEST. I did not drive again until this morning. I did not experience the issue after a 21 minute drive. Typically I'd see the issue ~5->10 minutes after starting car.

Interestingly, today
1) I still see/have access to the Sirius "Data" (Travel and Traffic) today.
2) I still do not get the record icon for presets 7->18 (2nd and 3rd screen). I do get the record icon for presets 1->6.

My hypothesis/speculation is SiriusXM rolled back a signal protocol change that was the root cause of the issue.

Yes, I have not had the issue as well. Part of me was curious if it was in line with the Connected Services outage on Sunday where I could not remote start my car. I was in the car for 3 different 1 hour drives due to the lovely weather here in STL, and I had no issues with my infotainment system at all.

Problem is back again as of 710pm. EST. unreal.

uodated my radio software to 14.5 to make sure most uodated software is on the car but that’s not helping.
Can someone else weigh in who’s reported that it was fixed for them over the past few days?

Yeah, I thought it was fixed. I had no problems this morning or afternoon, but it was back this evening for my drive home. It's really annoying, and I kind of need the navigation to work tomorrow.

Thanks for your reply. Misery loves company apparently. I’ve written the CEO and VP of customer relations on Sunday evening. They have both constructive and actual notice of this product liability issue.
I’ve requested a response on my request to replace both my head unit and antenna. Let’s see what happens in the meantime.
Also not having recording capability on all eighteen presets is probably a sign that a true fix has not been implemented from the XM software side of things.
My navigation hard buttons are freezing up as well.

I thought that feature was only supposed to work on the first six presents. From the manual...

3. Preset list
Displays the channels saved in the Preset list.
Smart Favorites ( )
SXM supports 6 smart favorites. It is
buffered 1 hour for the currently tuned
channel (Instant Replay) and at least 1/2
hour for each of the 6 smart favorites.

Not sure what smart favorites are. I’m referring to just the standard preset locations 1 thru18.
I think what you’re referring to is favorite sxm channels which is another way to store favorite type of music or artists.
But the little logo that says “Rec” should show on all 18 presets. At least that was the way it worked before I applied the most recent map update. Another poster a few pages back also mentioned something about this.

The preset recording function not showing up for location 7-17 for me either. I think this is also due to either the map n soft bug or XM software glitches.

Mine was also working properly yesterday morning, and now it's back to the same problem with XM getting stuck on a channel.

The SiriusXM channel change was working for me as of 6:00pmEST yesterday. This morning around 7:20amEST, the issue returned.
Interestingly, after the issue occurred this morning, when I went to SiriusXM data (weather, traffic, gas+movie pricies etc.) data is missig and I get "No data, try later" (paraphrased) after ~2 minutes.

Looks like Hyundai/Sirius/Mapnsoft are still working out some bugs.

Yep, problem is back. I went for a 1 hour drive this morning, and SiriusXm locked up again. When I try to change Xm stations the new station displays the song that should be playing, but the display also says "looking for signal" and continues to play the original station.

"Looking For Signal" went away for a day or so, but is back today for me as well.

Lot of different issues, I'm sure they are all related. I was out for two 45 minute drives on Wednesday. At first I though everything was OK as I had no momentary lose of sound as I did before but when I tried to change channels on SXM just as an experiment, no luck. I could navigate to another channel with the jog dial, but it wouldn't actually change channels. ....Acquiring Signal....

A little later I tried to use Apple Car Play and Waze. It started up ways, but wouldn't show the map on screen. I then switched to the native navigation. It started up and I was able to program the destination, and guidance started, but the map only showed the route overview and didn't switch to the street turn by turn view. Also, the turn by turn did not display in my Heads Up Display, but speed and speed limit still displayed.

On the way home, Waze still did not work, but the native navigation did work, including the heads up display. Still couldn't change SXM channels.

2018 G80 5.0 Ultimate Have not installed 14.1 yet.

Just noticed this morning that the “cancel route” option button is gone from the navigation display when in an active route.

My system appears to be functioning normally again after a couple of weeks of freeze-ups.

1. Still missing ability to record all 18 XM presets. Only first 6 presets now offer the ability to record aka buffer the live stream.

2. On native navigation the cancel route button is gone. Only see pause route option button now when on a live active routing.

anyone else noticing any other issues?

I called Genesis consumer affairs this morning and they indicated that (as has been suggested) that the problem comes from the SXM traffic/weather feed. The rep was under the impression that SXM was supposed to have turned off the feed temporarily until a fix was found. She said our subscriptions for the SXM Traffic/Weather are to be extended by three months.

The rep suggested that a reset was a "Temporary" fix. She said that a "short" reset (push the pin in until the screen goes black then release) might not result in loss of presets and other data.....but it might result in loss of presets and other data.

So for those of you who do not have an active subscription for SXM Traffic/Weather, have you experienced these problems?

SXM is not turning off the traffic/weather feed for all customers. My understanding is SXM is temporarily disabling/revoking the SXM data subscriptions (travel and traffic) for affected users. This is a interim fix until they can determine the problem and fix (most likely a car radio software update).

Mapnsoft indicated they submitted my VIN (more likely radio ID) to SXM Tuesday Feb 16, 2021 to revoke my SXM DATA subscription. Logging into XMS website and looking at my car radio this morning I am still subscribed to SXM data subscription.

Serendipitously, my 3 year complimentary SXM data subscription is set to expire tomorrow Feb, 19, 2021. I anticipate this may resolve my XMS radio issue.

Interestingly I was seeing the SXM channel not changing issue consistently for about 1 month. This week it has been working/not failing intermittently.

<opinion-speculation>
SXM is actively working on updating the satellite transmission protocol to resolve the issue, but not quite done/figured it out yet.
</opinion-speculation>

It would be helpful to know if anyone with the "9.2-inch HD navigation system with DIS Multimedia Controller)" that does NOT have a SXM Data is experiencing this issue.

Interesting, my Service Advisor also indicated that she was asked by Tech for my 'numbers' so they could fix my radio.
