  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

You’re not the only one. Nav and XM froze on me this morning.

Thank you all for outlining freeze up problems. 2018 Genesis G80 Sport, 9.2” screen, same intermittent problems since beginning of February - using v14.1

update: my situation has gotten worse over the last 3 days. infotainment completely freezes within 5 minutes of startup with the dreaded:

1) acquiring signal message; however,
2) this happens right after "featured favorites updated" message
3) XM Traffic and Data still active on my account.

Question: Can someone who has recently deleted XM traffic and Data subscriptions from their account please confirm if they're still seeing the freeze up issue. This way we can definitively ascertain if that is a factor or not.

Thanks.

i have removed traffic and travel link and my issues are gone.

My 2018 G80 Sport 3.3T ( (9.2-inch HD navigation system with DIS Multimedia Controller) has NOT malfunctioned since my SiriusXM Data subscription (Travel and Traffic) expired last Friday. The issue happened consistenlty after 5->10 minutes. I drorve the car all day that Friday and several times since and not had the issue re-occur. I'm am 92.8% confident the issue is resolved in my car.

I was told by Mapnsoft, Hyundai is currently temporarily revoking the SiriusXM data subscription for affected users/cars. MapnSoft had submitted a request to SXM to unsubscribe my vehicle from SXM Data last Tuesday. I'm not sure if my my SXM Data subscription expired or was unsubscribed. Regardless, the car and the SXM website shows my SXM data subscription is no longer active as of Friday Feb 19, 2021.

I speculate revoking the SXM data subscription for affected cars is a temporary measure until a navigation system update is made available to resolve the issue. I've heard rumors/hearsay Hyundai/Genesis will be extending the SXM data subscriptions for affected users by 3 months.

Serendipitously, I was driving through local Hyundai/Genesis dealer (checking out new G's ;) ) Friday Feb 19, 2021 when my the SXM Data subscription was revoked/expired. I saw a message on car screen indicating subscription was being updated. It subsequently initiated a software update without input from me (odd). I also spoke with the dealer service manager. He had heard nothing/nor gotten reports from customers about this issue.

When I talked to Genesis last week, they told me that SXM was temporarily stopping the SXM Travel Link/Traffic subscriptions and would add another 3 months to the expiration date when the problem was fixed. My Travel Link/Traffic subscriptions are still active. I still have the problem.

Called SXM technical support (866) 463-5326 and they claimed to have no information about the issue and nothing has been reported to SXM.

I guess I'll call MapnSoft next. Still running the previous version, have not installed 14.1 yet. Still sitting on my desk. I didn't want to confuse the issue

Additionally, I called SMX one week before my SXM Data services (Travel and Traffic) were to expire. I requested they cancel my complimentary SXM Data services immediately, attempting to resolve this issue. I was told this could not be done and had to wait for subscription to expire at end of that week.

Take this with a "grain of salt". The SXM support person may have just been wanting to get rid of me.

I just got off the phone with XM this morning and I had them cancel my old subscription and start a new one without the travel link and traffic data. I can confirm that they were able to do this and that I no longer have travel link. I am at work and so did it on break. the person at XM told me to leave the radio on for at least five minutes so I did and during that time I did not have any XM freezing issue. I'll keep trying it on the ride home tonight to see how it goes.
However I did discover this weekend and it is still a problem today that my send to car nav directions no longer work. in fact even when I typed in an address and started navigating to it, after a few miles the navigation directions froze and I had to pull over and use Google maps to continue my journey.
Yesterday I did the Blue Link in the car, spoke with the person there and she also claimed that this was part of the Sirius XM problem. I don't know if that's true or not.
From my phone app I can send directions to my car and they are received and yet when I confirm to navigate to that location nothing happens. the system freezes for a minute and then goes back to the Blue Link screen.

Is XM travel link needed for the navigation system to work?

I have a 2016 Hyundai Genesis. I've been having similar issues over the past two weeks or so. After 20 minutes, the XM radio freezes on the current station and says acquiring signal. The navigation system also freezes. Last week everything seemed to work again for a couple days but now is freezing up again. I can reset the system by depressing the reset button while the car is running and it works again for awhile but then same thing happens. I had called XM technical support but they just had me open the door to reset the system and sent a signal refresh. Again that worked only for a while.

Coincidentally my SiriusXM subscription was up for automatic renewal on Feb 16 and I had to update the credit card because the old one was no longer valid. I paid it a couple days later. Not sure if this contributed to the issue. On the SiriusXm website my account is still showing subscribed to XM Select and Traffic and Traffic Link which I've always had.

I just got this from Map-N-Soft.

A permanent fix for this issue is in the works.
It should be available on the next release in April ( subject to change)

Couldn't get through to Mapnsoft on the phone so I did one of those annoying chat sessions. At first the rep tried to put me off to an authorized dealer but after asking him to investigate further telling him it was a known problem he checked into it. He asked me for a picture of the system information with the software and map version, something I couldn't provide at the time. He told me to re-contact them with the information.

I did ask him to confirm that it was a known problem and he did. He said it was known and was being worked on and would be addressed in a future update, possibly in April, but not a guarantee.

I'm going to contact Genesis again. Last time their computers were down so I don't know if my report actually got into the system. The rep however was well aware of the problem and had heard from a lot of owners.

I just called into SiriusXM customer relations. They’re the only ones who can remove Traffic and TraveLink subscriptions.

after removing these two features and refreshing the radio signal my radio is finally working.

Con: when using the navigation there is no calculating the fastest route based on current traffic.

Also, the ability to record on all 18 presets is still not working. Only can record on first 6 presets. This is definitely an issue related to the MapNSoft update v.14

Hyundai really need to address this issue with mapnsoft since it’s their software that is incompatible with the ubiquitous and vehicle agnostic XM signals for traffic and travel link.
Given the numerous bugs with the recent map software this appears to be due to a lack of beta testing and lack of QC

Without a traffic subscription I would not expect the navi to be able to calculate faster route based on traffic. Similarly without a Sirius XM radio subscription I would not expect to listen to XMRadio ;)

Smart Favorites (REC).
SXM support 6 smart favorites. It is buffered 1 hour for the currently tuned channel (Instant Replay) and at least 1/2 hour for each of the 6 smart favorites.
I seem to recall pre- 14.10 update all 18 presets recorded, but I'm getting old and memory isn't what it used to be.

I was never able to record on all 18 presets. Here is the page from my manual. My G80 Sport is a 2018.siriusxm.webp

Thanks for the photo of the manual.

On my 15 Genesis 3.8 - we were able to record on first 12 presets until the most recent update. They make be trying to level the playing field across all trims.

Not sure if the gods were smiling on me this afternoon, but my radio worked flawlessly for over an hour. I had one small glitch where the screen went back to the home mode but no functions failed at all. Maybe they are trying things. Who knows? Will see what happens tomorrow.

Does anyone know how removing the travel link and traffic subscriptions affect the navigation system? I understand it will not provide traffic information or fastest route but will the navigation system still work? Also - My travel link and traffic subscriptions are a "trial subscription" that doesn't expire until 12/2021 so a supervisor of the technical support department just told me that Sirius cannot cancel those and that I would have to go through the dealership.
