  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Home screen freezes up

It's ridiculous that Genesis USA didn't know about this apparent software incompatibility issue between XM and Hyundai. I got the runaround at my dealership too, and they are frustrated with genesis usa as well. I'm going to suspend my XM travel link and data immediately.
Good Luck with that ! --- If it's the 3 year trial version of the Travel Link, You will not be able to do it. I tried today and XM told me the Dealer had to do it for me. --- We'll see how that goes next week.

The dealer here in minneapolis (after a head unit replace) contacted Genesis and was told they are working on a fix, and made me take back my car. They had no idea when the fix would take place, but the GM did give me the number for Genesis consumer affairs. The person at Genesis said they hope to have a fix in the next few days. I guess we will know in a few days.
by the way that number for anyone is 844 340 9741
My dealer said exactly the same thing: should be fixed by the end of the week... That was 3 weeks ago! This is ridiculous and frustrating. I'll wait a bit longer until I complain to my state Attorney General or trade in my G80.

The SiriusXM "channel no change" issue seems to have been resolved some time this weekend. I last experienced the issue Friday Feb 12 around 5:00pmEST. I did not drive again until this morning. I did not experience the issue after a 21 minute drive. Typically I'd see the issue ~5->10 minutes after starting car.

Interestingly, today
1) I still see/have access to the Sirius "Data" (Travel and Traffic) today.
2) I still do not get the record icon for presets 7->18 (2nd and 3rd screen). I do get the record icon for presets 1->6.

My hypothesis/speculation is SiriusXM rolled back a signal protocol change that was the root cause of the issue.
Still having the same issue, so I do not believe it is completely resolved yet...

Thanks for your reply. Misery loves company apparently. I’ve written the CEO and VP of customer relations on Sunday evening. They have both constructive and actual notice of this product liability issue.
I’ve requested a response on my request to replace both my head unit and antenna. Let’s see what happens in the meantime.
Also not having recording capability on all eighteen presets is probably a sign that a true fix has not been implemented from the XM software side of things.
My navigation hard buttons are freezing up as well.
Ditto. Still having issues. I'm going to suspend my XM travel link and data to see if that helps...

thats what I was trying to ascertain. Can’t remember if this started after I did the software update or if it’s related to the XM bug.
I don't think your pause button question is related to the XM radio issues. I noticed that software change quite a while ago, long before this XM radio problem. In so far as cancelling a route, as previously mentioned, just hold in the pause route button. Not intuitive at all!

Here is the deal with the complimentary service. XM says that they cannot suspend it. My dealer told me he can't do it either. The only way is to totally discontinue your entire service package and then restart without the Travel Link.. You will have to pay for Traffic Link if you want it. I chose to pass on that feature for now. The sales manager at my dealership told me that they will work something out to reinstate the complimentary stuff when the issue is resolved. Will see how that goes when the time comes. As for me this was the only solution I had after many calls to sirius trying to resolve this.

So I have talked to Mapnsoft, Genesis and SXM. SXM blew me off said they couldn't do anything about a trial subscription. Mapnsoft is aware of the problem, created a case number for me and escalated it. I sent them a picture of my system information screen per their request.

The first time I talked to Genesis, they were aware of the problem, but their computers were down and couldn't create a case number for me. I called back Thursday 2/25 got a different agent, sort of got a run around telling me that only SXM could cancel or suspend the Travel Link/Traffic service. I told them that since it was a complementary subscription included in my G80 purchase, SXM couldn't cancel it. I was frustrated, but they created a case number so I was on record about the problems.

Flash forward to Saturday 2/27. I hadn't driven since Thursday. Got in the car, drove for a couple of minutes, then "Subscription Updated" appeared on the screen. I checked SXM data, and I no longer had an active subscription for travel link/traffic. During the 20 minutes I was driving, I didn't have any problems with the radio.

I don't know who initiated the pause or cancel of the subscription. I'm guessing Genesis

Good to know. I'm going to call XM tomorrow and suspend my traffic/data package... Hopefully that will solve my radio problem...at least until the permanent software fix arrives!

If you are still on a complementary subscription for Traffic/Travel Link I don't think you will be able to get SXM to suspend it. That's what SXM told me. I think the suspension of my service was the result of my call to Genesis.......maybe.

I'm not on the complementary trial, so perhaps it will be easier to obtain a suspension. I'll keep everyone posted.

I was on a 1 hour drive Friday, and the Sirius radio would go silent for about 5 seconds every 10 minutes. Then the radio would return to "normal". If the nav screen was displayed, it stayed up, but if the Sirius screen was up, it changed to the "home screen". The stations never locked up though. The "featured favorites updated" message came up every time so it looks like Sirius may be sending a refresh signal every 10 minutes to prevent the lock up. Hopefully they'll have a permanent fix soon.

My opinion is that the Sirius XM Data signal changed formats. Our Info Entertainment systems didn't. This is an XM issue. It was working fine and then POOP!
Interim Fix: I had to cancel my XM Travel Package. Cancelled it, Refreshed the Signal and no more issues. If Genesis has a future software update I will subscribe again.

I have that same issue AND it locks up after about 10 minutes of listening. Sometimes all the hard buttons lock up, too. XM customer service was closed today, so I am going to try to suspend the traffic and data features tomorrow.

Having similar issues for past couple of weeks. At first thought it was a bug in the MapSoft latest upgrade but now thinking XM is the culprit. I'll call XM on Monday and see what they have to say. Good luck to all!

These tales sound very similar to my experience of the past 2 weeks. Not being able to engage the overhead or backup camera; digital clock freezing, while analog is displaying correct time; touch screen not responding to touch – these were remedied by shutting engine off and restarting. However, 2 days ago after about 20 minutes of driving and changing the FM radio station, I could not get back to the map screen or to any other display function, and could not turn off the radio even with the manual knob, although it would adjust volume. This time, stopping the engine and restarting did not correct the malfunctions. The next day all worked as expected during a short trip.

A big difference between my G80 (2018, 3.3TT/HTrac) and almost all others described here is related to Sirius and mapping software. It was bought used about 20 months ago and I never activated the Sirius service, nor have I updated the mapping software (if needed I use Waze). As seen below in the software versions, they are quite a few iterations behind others shown here.

One more thing, during the startup sequence, the DIS shows a screen with a Sirius logo on the top left and the phrase “Featured favorites updated”. Now it’s possible I have seen this every day, but because of these problems I am just now noticing it. But without having a Sirius subscription, it’s curious to wonder what is being updated?

Just got off the phone with Genesis customer support, Was having same issues with XM as described above which started February 2. Dealerships indicates from their tech support there is no fix available yet but that the genesis engineers are working on it. Customer service has gotten a great deal of calls from customers and indicated genesis engineers are working with SiriusXM on a solution. They provided me a contact number and case number to check every week or two to see if a fix has been established. Hope this helps others. I’ve got a 2019 G80 ultima

Are you still within the 3 year Genesis Connected Services window that comes with the car at purchase? It doesn't include Sirius/XM Radio but does have Sirius/XM Data.

Here's the latest news in this thread: In regards to Speeder's question - I am NOT within the 3 year complementary Genesis Connected Services or any of the complementary XM subscriptions (radio/data/traffic). However, today (for the first time) I noticed that SXM data was discontinued, but not by me! Since I no longer have the trial subscriptions for any of these services, then SXM must have suspended the data service. I am presently waiting for them to call me back to confirm that this is what occurred. I will re-post once I hear from them. ALSO, THE XM RADIO DID NOT FREEZE UP TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ABOUT A MONTH!

Ditto. I have had the same problem in my 2018 G80 sport for about a month now. Genesis USA supposedly has informed dealerships about this issue and they say that "they are working on it." After reading this forum it appears to be an issue with an XM software / Genesis incompatibility issue. Funny, since the radio has worked perfectly for over 3 years and all of the sudden this started out of nowhere! Some users resolved the issue by suspending XM travel data... I'm going to try that this week.
Exactly same issue with my 2018 G80 Sport. Dealer picked up car today then called to say it’s a Sirius issue and dealer had received an email about it. Then why the hell did they take my car in?
