Hard to say but I think it would fall on Sirius. The electronics in the Genesis are not the issue.I wonder how/if these problems will affect Consumer Reports "in-car electronics" ratings in their reliability section. Even though Sirius caused the problem, Genesis will still get the blame.
For what it's worth, check your warranty. I was told recently we had 5 yrs/ 60K miles. I just started the problem mid-February. Genesis isa blaming Sirius, Sirius doesn't care. And we have $40-$60K cars with worthless radios AND GPS systems! Two big companies pointing the finger at each other and we are stuck without recourse!I'm having the same issues as everybody else. I upgraded to 14.10 a month ago and it seemed to work fine for a couple weeks and then about 2 weeks ago I've noticed the following:
- Random Freezing screen
- Unable to change the SiriusXM Channel (Each channel shows "Acquiring Signal...")
- Periodically SiriusXM pauses and it flashes "Featured favorites updated" on the top of the screenand then SiriusXM starts up again
- Randomly going to the Home screen
I've reset everything to Default settings in the System Info screen and did a reset of the head unit by pushing the button right above the CD player for 5+ seconds and the issue just comes back.
There might be something to the SiriusXM theory causing the issues since I didn't have any issues for the first 2 weeks after the update AND there are some people experiencing the issues without updating. Since then, I noticed the issues occasionally, and now it happens EVERY time I drive. I tried timing how long it takes before the issues start popping up, but it seems to be random.
The only fix is to either turn off the car or do a hard reset of the unit, but that only fixes it temporarily.
My warranty is nearly up and I thought about taking it to the dealership, however, this is clearly a software issue(possibly SiriusXM content) and not a hardware issue since a lot of people are experiencing the same behavior for the past couple weeks.
Please share if you find the magic bullet.

their response was incredibly fast. literally less than 10min. They asked for a pic of the system info too (setup/system info). The agent that emailed me said they send the info to HMA, as they "do not actually have control over this issue directly".I found it fairly easy to get MapNSoft to suspend my travelink subscription temporarily. Their customer service team seems fully up to date on the problem. I sent them a message through the MapNSoft.com/genesis website and they got back to me within an hour. They need your VIN and your SXM Radio ID (go to channel 0 to get radio ID). Travellink service was removed within 24 hours. They will also keep track of affected VINs to be sure your service is reactived once the problem fix is applied in case SXM doesn't do it automatically. No need to cancel your entire subscription or SXM traffic which isn't affected.
Even my Chevrolet pickup didn't experience this. What really irritated me is that for a week I didn't know what was wrong until I read about it in one of the forum threads here. Genesis knows or should know what vehicles are affected, should have notified owners, and should have set up some folks to be proactive in fixing this for people without us having to do detective work and contacting MapnSoft ourselves. I've owned Jags and Caddys and never had a lack of service like this.I called MapnSoft on Friday and after some preliminary questions, they were aware of the issue and all I had to do was give them my VIN and Radio ID. Super Simple
A little over 24 hours later I received a "subscription update" notification on my radio and my issues are now gone. What's interesting is that SXM Traffic and SXM stocks are still subscribed, whereas the rest are not. Also, my SiriusXM account still shows the Traffic and Travel Link active.
Regardless, my issues are gone and I am happy.
It will be interesting to see how Genesis compensates for this issue. It' hard to know who exactly is to blame. Whether Sirius failed to notify Genesis/MapnSoft of the change or Genesis/MapnSoft failed to code their software properly.
All I know is that I have a Lexus and Lincoln that had zero issues during this timeframe.

It is disheartening to read so many Genisis owners are experiencing the same issue, with no definitive fix. Thank you everyone for your supportI belong to the G80 Owners page on Facebook. One of the other members reported on there that it took two new head units being installed & a complete satellite radio antenna replacement to correct the issue. I have an appointment with my dealers on Tuesday. I emailed the service department a video of how the head unit is behaving but they are unsure of how to address the problem? Hopefully one of us will get a definitive answer on how to fix this problem so that we can share it with the group.
I think you just have to get lucky with the guy or gal that answers the phone... What I did with my guy (who was good) was tell him the complimentary traffic link was hanging up my navigation system. I then explained that what others have done is cancel the Account and get a refund for what is left and then renew the same subscription for another year at the same price... (Since they were actually getting a 'sale' for more money (extending the subscription) this appeared to apply the 'proper lubrication'... In my case this was done in less than 10 minutes. -- If you get a ***** or a Bitch, you're probably better off just hanging up and trying again until you get one with 'No attitude'.Oh my, just spent 25 minutes on the phone with Sirius to get Traffic and Travel Link removed(requires cancel and restart of membership). They fought with me the whole time about what other troubleshooting we could do, and after finally getting them to commit to doing it, they dropped the call. Called back and essentially no notes in the account, would have to start the entire process over. I'm pretty much just here to whine and vent, but is there an easier way I'm missing?
You might try on-line chat instead of a voice call. At least that way, it is documented. At first, you get a robot. Just type agent to get a human.Oh my, just spent 25 minutes on the phone with Sirius to get Traffic and Travel Link removed(requires cancel and restart of membership). Re-did the call... time will tell it works! You might try on-line chat instead of a voice call. At least that way, it is documented. At first, you get a robot. Just type agent to get a human.
My 2018 g80 sport was great for 3 yrs but after my renewal of all services nothing works. The live nav disapears ..radio freezes on one station..cant get to the map. I have had 2 head units replaced all no help. Genesis says its xm and xm says we don't know what they are talking about.I just purchased a 18 G80 Sport. And have noticed the home screen will allow you to move to each icon, but won't let you choose them. I have tried touching the screen, as well as the center knob. Neither will let me enter into any app. Or it will freeze when in an app. Can't change the radio or use the navigation. Anyone experience this?
The key is to do an online chat with Mapnsoft, not SiriusXM.Put on my patience hat and re

Not True ...... I called XM and had it fixed in less than 10 minutes. The key is to do an online chat with Mapnsoft, not SiriusXM.
I have had the same problem and called Sirius numerous times to cancel the Travel Link. After four promises that it would be cancelled I had to go to second level tech support at Sirius to cancel the link since my Sirius XM subscription showed it was still active. After 45 minutes on the phone and the cancellation of the Travel Link the problem recurred. The tech had me turn off blue tooth on my Andorid phone and that's when all the stations came back. Now I wonder when Genesis is going to restore the complimentary time I am losing on the Travel Link signal. I've called Genesis a few times and they have no idea if and when this will be resolved. If you read this entire thread, you'll have your answer... No need to be frustrated!
