Home screen freezes up

I am not sure that would fix anything. When you delete the cache, as soon as you get the travel link signal the system is working in the background to load the data...

In theory the reset botton does that too... but like I said, data gets probably reloaded via satellite...

Complete data delete can be done with updating your software. I think I mentioned before, maps and OS updates are free now to download, and the install is fast. It cannot hurt... I updated mine, it is better just got a few annoying stupid changes, but mostly improved everything

Thank you for all of your help. I have done the majority of what you suggested except the update. I can get access to an update right now because it is not on the website. If you have a way I could get one, even if it isn’t the latest one, that would be amazing. I am just stuck right now. I am concerned once I get an update, I won’t be able to tell the system to update. I can’t go in to settings right now and I think you have to go into there ones you insert an SD card.
What year is yours?

You CAN download I think older updates so if that is your concern you can keep the latest last and use the 2019 update for now

In the settings > system info > run RESET ALL ...

Where do I go to get previous updates. I didn’t see that option on MNsoft’s website. I would try reset all but everytime I try to go to settings, it freezes.

Mine is a 2015 with the original version so I can update to a lot of the more recent versions

That sounds good, thank you. Mine is a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 ultimate. Would it be a bad Idea to get an update for a 2017 Genesis g80 if an update if they have one available? They have all of the same systems I think.

I am not sure if the 2015 is the same as the 2017. I know of one difference for sure. 2015 can not read out loud text messages for you while you drive. 2017 and up can.

I called XM and told them I wanted to Cancel my Current Subscription, because of the freezing problems and then I would renew for another year. I had 4 months on the remaining Subscription which they refunded to my Credit Card and then Charged the Full year to the same Credit Card. My New Subscription now does not show the Travel Crap anymore and so far, so good !! -- DO NOT HAVE YOUR HEAD UNIT REPLACED !!! --- This is not a hardware problem and is easily fixed. Especially if you don't want the XM Traffic Link Stuff !
I called XM and cancelled my complimentary 3 year subscription on my 2018 Genesis G80. It still froze up. I drove to the dealer in my area and they told me that Genesis and X/M are aware of the issue and is working on it. Nice of them to let us know if you know what I mean. I was told by the customer service manager that you will get the time back once they solve the issue. I basically pop out the SD Card and put it back in and it reboots and I wait for the next freeze up.

Just keep a ball point pen in the console and press the reset button on the face of the CD Player, that's easier the removing the SD Card.

I'm having the same issues as everybody else. I upgraded to 14.10 a month ago and it seemed to work fine for a couple weeks and then about 2 weeks ago I've noticed the following:

  • Random Freezing screen
  • Unable to change the SiriusXM Channel (Each channel shows "Acquiring Signal...")
  • Periodically SiriusXM pauses and it flashes "Featured favorites updated" on the top of the screenand then SiriusXM starts up again
  • Randomly going to the Home screen

I've reset everything to Default settings in the System Info screen and did a reset of the head unit by pushing the button right above the CD player for 5+ seconds and the issue just comes back.

There might be something to the SiriusXM theory causing the issues since I didn't have any issues for the first 2 weeks after the update AND there are some people experiencing the issues without updating. Since then, I noticed the issues occasionally, and now it happens EVERY time I drive. I tried timing how long it takes before the issues start popping up, but it seems to be random.

The only fix is to either turn off the car or do a hard reset of the unit, but that only fixes it temporarily.

My warranty is nearly up and I thought about taking it to the dealership, however, this is clearly a software issue(possibly SiriusXM content) and not a hardware issue since a lot of people are experiencing the same behavior for the past couple weeks.

Please share if you find the magic bullet.

Just bought used 2017 G80 3.8L. Loved it until i discovered my screen locking. Just went to dealership, who said it's XM's problem. Disagree. XM works on every other car make/model i've rented; so, it seems like a Genesis hardware issue. No offer of assist from Genesis at all. Very disappointing.
 
So far, no problems at all with mine since I canceled.
 
Happened to me today too. Genesis corporate and the dealers are completely unaware.
Not sure about that. The service manager i talked to said Genesis (dealer and their Region/Corporate office) are aware but their position is that it's an XM problem (I disagree). What's disappointing is that Genesis is not informing buyers of the issue, then refusing to fix it or any other remedy. this smells like a class action - - selling a car based on features that it does not have, because they don't function. while not a safety issue, it's a loss in value for everyone of us who's purchased one.

Mapsoft put on their website: "NEW MAP & SOFTWARE UPDATE V15.0 WILL BE AVAILABLE IN MID APRIL 2021"
I hope something in this update will resolve the issue

I called technical support not customer service. With enough fighting, they will cancel it.
 
Let us know if you do install an update Reedssadler and if that changes anything.
I unfortunately can't get an update right now. They have it blocked it. Looks like I have to wait until mid April to maybe get things working again.

Genesis can do it for you. For me they did too.

Called my service dept. Gave my radio ID Hardware ID, etc and they put me on the list. They told XM to act. Try that via Genesis dealer.
