  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys and gals,

So when i went on my road trip of 1200 miles, i noticed that my hood does some vibrating, i saw it mainly when the sun was shining and reflecting off of it. Has anyone else seen this or had a problem with the hood doing that?

That's just a sign of the flux capacitor powering up, nothing to be alarmed about.

But yeah, I think it's a common thing - mine has always done it, anyway.

same.

I have not noticed this, and rumor has it that my car has hit triple-digit speeds more than a handful of times.

I'm going to have to look. Never noticed it so far but have never exceeded 125.

i mean, i don't have to drive fast, it happens already going 70-75 mph. I know the freeways here in SoCal are CRAP, but it's really annoying when the sun hits it and reflects you in the face and just blinds you on and off due to the vibrating.

I have looked for this before because every now and then this question gets asked. I've never seen even a hint of it. I don't doubt that others are seeing it though, because the question has come up a handful of times.

It's on my list of things to mention when i do go for my next service to the dealership.

Mine does it as well...depends on how the wind is blowing as to how "bad" it is. I have had it well over 120+ multiple times and can't say it becomes so bad as to want to rip off or anything. Just more annoying than anything.

crazy to see that there are quite some people who have this problem, but, yet it has not been alerted by Hyundai... maybe it's not really considered a safety issue..

Though I have a gen 1, I thought that Hyundai would have cured by now!!! Starts @110 and You should see it @ 140!! And No, it's not the tires. Seems as though air can't escape fast enough under the hood. Can see it pushing up at the rear of the hood. Not going to rely on the front hood lock to keep everything secured. One member said he was going to remove the rubber seals from the top of the cowl to allow air to flow out, but haven't heard back whether this works.

Mine did it really bad when new, but it was determined two of the tires were out of round causing a vibration. Once all the tires were replaced, it still does it but not nearly as bad.

Never happened to me but I never drive over 100mph. My first look would be the tires or rims which could easily be out of round or balance. Losing a balancing weight is common.

my 2015 does it even at speeds below 80 mph, and especially with a headwind. everything under the hood feels tight. i suspect the metal at the rear of the hood needs a bit more stiffening.

We have a Customer in our Body Shop that has this complaint. Another Shop repaired the vehicle, but could not solve this issue. It appears that air is pushing past the weatherstrip that surrounds the engine.
