  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

OK - I can't take the weak horn provided to us by Hyundai. I have to swap it out and will probably have a radio shop do it for me. Does anyone know where the factory horn is located?

I'm thinking of swapping it out for:

It's underneath the headlights, almost in the bumper. High pitch horn is on the passenger side; low pitch horn is on the driver side.

The service instructions say to remove the bumper to access it...

You have to remove the front bumper. Also, the space in there is tight so if you wanna put some after mkt, you may have to do some fabrication. You can upgrade the OEM one with one's made to fit, or you can try your luck with the after mkt one's. Just look for ones with compact designs, or if you're mechanically inclined you should be able to rig one yourself.

Has anyone removed the front bumper before? Thanks for the documents as well.

...also, I didn't know that there are two horns... low and high.

First time I've ever quoted myself! :grouphug:

The griotsgarage says that the horns can work in conjunction with the original horns... maybe a relay is the way to go. Mount the horns somewhere accessible from the top of the car..... or the bottom.

I'm going for this effect!

Yes i removed my front bumper and installed my own air horns, in nyc you need air horns to get the attention of these non-drivers behind the wheel of some of these cars, anyway i installed my own air horns & i also wired them up to the 3rd horn near the fire wall that is for the button on your transmitter that locates your car in case you misplaced it, hit that button and listen to that little toy horn they installed on our genesis , i mean really could they have found another horn to locate your car or did they just think that we would be so in love with our car that we would know where it was at all times

Do you have any video of the horn going off? Does your air horn use a compressor? How difficult of an install was it?

I'd really like to get another horn in my car. Something around 120db. It doesn't need to be an air horn, but something that gets attention. I watch a bunch of videos on youtube and the hella horn sounds bad. Not impressed.
