  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This is the first car ever that the horn doesn't work and I won't be able to get it inspected in January. Bought the car out of state so going back is not going to happen. Is there any reason why warranty would not cover this because dealer fixing anything not is just too expensive. 22 G70

Should be covered under the 5/60 warranty. See your closest Genesis dealer.

Does horn sound with fob? What about online app car finder horn activator?

No luck with the fob either. What worries me is they will find something the warranty doesn't cover.

Such as? Unless a wire was chewed by a mouse, pretty much everything is covered. I see two choices.
1. Take it to a dealer and it will be covered if a defective part.
2. Take it to an independent, pay them to diagnose and have them tell you it should be covered, or have them repair what should have been covered.

Check to see if a squirrel built a nest in the horn. That would not be covered, defective parts are. I'm on my 6th Hyundai/Genesis car with three different dealers, never had an issue with coverage.

As long as you are under warranty, it is covered. the original warrenty is bumper to bumper for defects or failure.

I just went through this. I brought it to my local dealer. I thought it was most likely a blown fuse. Although rare, this was a more common fault years ago. The dealer found the horn itself simply "shorted out" They ordered a replacement part. About two weeks later I brought the car in and the horn was replaced under warranty. I have had no other issues with my vehicle.

That's great news, thanks.

I'll find out 12/26 if it's warranty and I'll update.

My horn stopped working. I have the extended warranty, but Westlake Genesis says my horn is not under warranty?

Not enough information.
Assume you are past the Genesis standard 5/60 warranty.
There are many extended warranties available from different companies. Take a look at the paperwork and see what is and what is not covered. Some do not cover electrical things.

My Low Tone horn stopped working and was replace under warranty at 20K. I currently have 63K and it stopped working again. Vehicle is 3 years old with 63K. Is this something that is under warranty for a previously fixed horn? Seems like Genesis horns are a common problem.

Agree. Sometimes not only do the exclusions change, the system can even change from inclusions to exclusions. The contract is Key.

i too have had to replace my horn twice now with only 35k km on the vehicle. It is always the low tone horn that dies

PS I drive a 2023 GV70

Wish someone could find the secret website that list Genesis service bulletins or even Hyundai as the horn is probably a Hyundai part

The part says Kia on it and it is the same exact horn as on other Kias but they just changed the part number to make the Genesis part number more expensive
