If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Guys,
I own a 5.0 R-Spec and I was wondering if anybody has found any links that show hp and torque curves. I wonder just how much torque is available at low rpm's (say 1500-2000rpm). The peak torque may be quoted at a higher rpm but it feels plenty flexible at low rpm's to me. I'm guessing at least 300lb-ft must be available by 2000rpm...

Any suggestions for best launch from a standing start (not that I would abuse my R-Spec, but just in case the opportunity was "appropriate")?:)

edmunds inside line has a dyno video on youtube

shows wheel horsepower

so you have to convert to flywhel horsepower - but it basically shows what Hyundai is saying for the power and torque curve

what's interesting is that, compared with the Infinit M56
the M56 has greater torque and horsepower - leading inside line to believe infiniti is under estimating the M56 power numbers

many car companies do that ( post lower hp and torque numbers ) to play it safe.

When compared to the comaro ss and Mustang gt - the R Spec power and torque curves are nearly identical in most respects - from the beginning of the power band on up to redline.

Inside line claims 5.3 seconds to 60
Hyundai claim 5.1
MotorTrend claim 4.8 ( with roll out )

with a 1/4 mile time of 13.3 at 107.1 mph

With a little modding : intake - exhaust - headers, etc....

The R Spec should be capable of at least 450 - 470 hp :D

With a lower 0-60 and 1/4 mile time

I'm planning on getting the MagnaFlow Catback with intake when available
and toying with the idea of headers if they decide to make them

Then posting some runs from a dig and from a rolling start -
I suspect with these mods and the right set of tires
a 13 second flat 1/4 mile time is more than possible.

The R Spec's power comes on strong - early in the rev's you know -

It's a true sleeper

Thanks for all the info. I had a good chance to informally compare with a 2012 BMW 550. The extra gears does a good job at keeping the 5.0 on full boil. The upper end is where it shows a small advantage. Makes up for the low end grunt advantage of the BMW. Altogether a pretty even matchup. BTW, I disengaged the stability control and expected wheelspin but didn't get much at all...is there another button I need to disengage too?

From what I've heard so far, around 300 lb-ft are available as low as 1800 rpm. As for the 0-60 and quarter mile numbers they are pretty conservative. Real life numbers are a tad lower : 4.7 for 0-60 mph and 12.8 - 13.0 for 1/4 mile. It depends on the octane you use, external factors, tire inflation etc.
I can't wait to take mine to drag strip
