  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How about some REAL dollar amounts.

would anybody give real numbers to trade in for their Genesis and also to those that got a "deal" or an offer "they couldn't refuse". Don't be vague. What did you pay for the Equus, bottom line. My dealer is not budging from MSRP. Who is going to step up with real numbers on "deals"?

Hope this helps you some. $34K trade for my 2010 Genesis 3.8 and $2K off sticker on my 2011 Equus Signature. They started telling me nobody would discount either. It is all relative. The bottom line is what's important, not how you get there. They started out offering me $28K for my trade and I started to walk even though they had the color and interior I wanted and I had already checked everywhere and could not find one. They finally called me and said what would it take, and I said 34K trade and 2K off sticker and they said how quick can you get here! Anyway, that's my story and I am sticking to it!

Too many factors go into this to give a simple answer. In my case, I'm known to my dealer as a "great" customer: my last 5 cars have come from him (2 VW Passats, 1 VW EOS, 1Genesis, and now the Horse). Additionally, I've sent numerous customers his way over the years. That's not bragging, just saying that if anybody is going to get a deal on the Equus it's likely to be me rather than somebody off the street or with a 1-car history.
When I got my loaded Gen in November of '08 for $39,100 he said it was ok to advertise the deal. (Remember, back then most people were paying sticker.) This time he asked me NOT to advertise the price paid because he wouldn't/couldn't match it for anyone else.
So as much as I'd like to answer your question straight up, you see why I can't?

I suspect when the 5.0/8 speed comes out you'll get the same (or better!) deal than me on the 4.6 version.
As it should be...

All that rambling on and you come up with nothing? I've had cheap "hoes" that put out more than you.

Horse, can you pm me and tell me your deal? I won't tell anyone.

Being in the exploratory process with the Equus, I have been looking around seeing who is doing what. I have been very surprised at what people say they are getting for trading in their Genesis. What is worse, is to see a car that was traded in at 23K showing up on a lot with an asking price of 33K+. Looks like dealers are making up for discounts on the back end.

With that said, I have done a daily search on cars.com and have seen at least one Signature listed below sticker every day. Who knows what it would take to ultimately get that price. I could see a low ball trade in value being part of that equation easily.

f.y.i. - tbentley, are you close to Conway, TX? They show having two Equus vehicles on cars.com for 55.7K.

Ha, my bad. Carry on.
