How about we discuss the 'hottest' color?

We pretty much beat 'which color is the fastest?' subject to death, so how about we move on to another one - the 'Hottest Color'?

With the sub frame collar mod done over the weekend and I still had today off, I decided to go ahead and get that 35% tint done to get it all over with!

All I can say boy oh boy, if looks could kill....

I might be a bit partial - but just look at how that Pearl catches the late afternoon sun? especially around those gorgeous curves.... Isn't that the 'hottest color' contest winner or what?









(ED 718, maybe your wife is right? when it comes to 'pretty things' they usually are! In my case that is why I didn't get the black R-Spec )


And as a bonus pictue, I got a nice set of soft blue footwell LED ambient lighting installed, (I have run out of indecent lights to upgrade! )

This is a crazy topic because the answer will be obvious.
Why would you not buy a car with what you thought was the hottest color for that car?
I just want to hear from the beige owners.

I originally thought the Caspian Black was it!

As it turns out, I am now thinking that the Mrs. was right to insist after all, especially after tinting the windows , (she got the final vote because the R-Spec will belong to her, when it is time to trade in the 2009 4.6 Genny).

As far as the 'beige' question, I think it does have its advantages, for example less maintenance, hardly shows any dirt, blends in, take extra $$$$ of MSRP... well, can't fault me for trying to defend our brethren? ...

I like the look of white but could never keep it clean.

I must say black when properly cleaned looks amazing but the upkeep is why I will not buy a black car.

All kidding aside, instead of good natured arguing about the "hottest color", why don't we discuss the effect our color has on the model of Genny we have that makes it our favorite?

I've seen cars that looked so different in certain colors that I thought they were different models and I know, at least for me, the way the car is "presented" in certain colors definitely contributes to my color choice. There's even a color or two (I won't say which) that I really like on 1gs that I definitely dislike on any 2g I've seen.

For me, the simple, classic beauty and elegance of black make the whole shape and especially the profile (especially with a tint) of the 2g a show stopper - that's why I don't mind the little bit of extra time for taking care of it. Of course, YMMV because they look so good in so many colors. So, come on, tell us why you chose your color?

Excellent idea, to make the subject more informative I will also like to add the least favorite thing about said color.

I will start with the two I own;

1G / Pearl White / Black interior:

LIKES: How the different lighting / all kind color reflections shimmer on the different panels, especially where they curve. rather a delicate color that stands out even if another white is parked next to it. I constantly get complements wherever I go.

DISLIKES: The area around the exhaust requires allot of attention (due to black soot buildup regardless of Gas I use, although less so with 'pure gas') also needs more care than other colors (dreading spring pollen next year!), never the less the Pearl white is worth the effort.

1G / Champagne / Tan interior:

LIKES: Hardly requires any maintenance, hides dirt particles very well, pollen and dust hardly makes an impact, although when cleaned and waxed properly this color sparkle like a gold emblem filed with tiny precious jewels.

DISLIKES: 'Gold' is considered by some to be a 'yesteryear' color and is not worth another 'closer' look (funny thing is the Mrs. did not like that color until the 4.6 became hers )

2g / Caspian black /Black interior

Likes: IMO black hood is one of the most beautiful out there - I love staring at its contours / Dark color seems to meld the car into one shape instead of emphasizing separate elements/ Dark color accentuates the beautiful profile of this particular model, especially with tinted windows/ When freshly detailed it glows/ Turns heads/ Classic/ Elegant - like wearing a tux / Modern finishes not really as hard to maintain as in years past. Interior not truly black but charcoal gray/ Black also tends to look longer and lower

Dislikes: Shows spiderweb scratches when not cared for properly/ Doesn't appear clean as long as other colors/ Is harder to keep up if not garaged

I thought of it as an "old man's" color (heck, I'm not a spring chicken) but after tinting the windows & putting a black chrome wing on the trunk & wing wheel caps, it's starting to grow on me!

1g/ Platinum w/ Black

Likes: I liked the color - it wasn't my first choice but I liked it/ Easy to keep clean - stayed clean a long time - almost always looked clean

Dislikes: Other than the fact that it wasn't black, none that I remember
