  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How are everyone's replacement Michelin tires doing?

Had the OEM tires replaced at about 1100 miles with the Primacy. I'm now at 23,000 miles and have started looking for replacements as they are not wearing very well. While a Michelin fan these tires are awful. They continue to have flat spots after just an hour parking, they vibrate worse than the originals until they get warmed up and they howl something awful. Have been religious with rotations but that doesn't seem to have helped at all. This is a lease car that I have to return in March and I hate the idea of having to buy new tires (to Hyundais specification) with only 8 months to go. Any suggestions on an inexpensive but decent tire? I've looked and I can't get anything with good reviews less than about $165-175 per tire. Have to have a "W" speed rating per lease agreement.

Im going to guess you mean the Primacy, which I agree is a terrible tire. If you are a V6, then you can get these for 177 each https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...+(W-+or+Y-Speed+Rated)&partnum=44YR8PSAS3PLXL . If you are needing staggered 19s they will be more, obviously, but you can't go wrong with Pilots. I use them on a staggered 19 set up on my v6, and my mom uses them square on her 2013 (17"), it's her second set (AS3 and AS3+) and my first (of the AS3+), we both love them. Excellent wet traction, flawless dry traction. Ultimately though, the reviews and testing say it all.

edit - oops, missed the part about 8 months, well, in that case, there is always the Kumho Solus (fleet tire, but "good enough"), Fuzion UHP (hey, its cheap and meets specs), or even the Falken FK510 (meh, its a tire), all of which are cheaper, the Fuzion, least so, while the reviews are not glowing, they do tick the boxes. If it were me and I didn't mind toning down my driving, I'd go Kumho, if "cheap" is the goal. But nothing wrong with Fuzions.... just don't go driving around any construction zones...

As I mentioned in a previous post, I went to Pirelli P-Zero's and am very happy with them having put on a few thousand km. Very quiet, good handling. The only negative I've seen is the suggestion in Consumer Reports that the stopping distance in the wet or on snow is a little longer.

When the safety recall came out, I went to Discount Tire to handle the recall with Hancook and got a set of Michelin Premiers. I then worked with Hyundai customer service on a claim for a portion of the cost. I ended up paying the difference in cost between the Premiers and the Michelin Primacy tires that Hyundai was providing. Overall, cost me about $200 "out of pocket" including Discount Tires' replacement warranty (certificates) and lifetime rotation and balance. I am completely satisfied with the tires and Hyundai's handling of the matter.

That is some smart thinking. I wished I'd thought of that. Just disappointed they have not lasted as Michelin's are generally great tires. May have to go the Kumho Solus route as mentioned above.

For 90% of ppl, the Solus will be fine. They aren't loud, and they are reasonably priced (IMO) for what they are. Bottom line, you have 8 months, go cheap, imo these have plenty of cache to anyone who knows tires, otherwise I would not have suggested them. The Daewoo Leganza (it was a state farm rental) was a surprisingly great little car, true story, had one for thirty days because I got hit, that was the first time I was exposed to the solus...and that was 2006... still rec them.

I am half way through my lease and I decided to get some BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2 tires in the coming month or so. Around 150 a corner, and they out spec the OEM Mich Primacy tires (96W vs 96V), and that's good enough.

I think they have about a 50,000 mi treadwear warranty is there no one a the dealer, tire store or Michelin that will discuss and suggest a solution.
