  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have never owned a Hyundai product before and I have an accepted offer on a 2015 Genesis that I pick up on Friday. Currently, I drive a 2012 Toyota Avalon Limited and I like it very much. I own a small business and am giving the Avalon to our sales manager.

I bought a black on black 2015 Ultimate. I love the outside, but I'm not sure if I love the interior. I have always owned lighter colors on my cars, but the deal was pretty good I think. Would like feedback on that:

So, here is the deal. The Ultimate has 5,700 miles on it. It was the dealer GM's car and then they put it in the service fleet for the past 2,000 miles. As a result of the miles, I was able to get them down to $41,500. I added 3 years of the two optional Blue Link apps, and we finalized the deal at $42,000 even.

I know this is a Genesis forum, but I have never spent that much on a car before, and I'm just having second thoughts about spending so much money on a Hyundai.

I love the car, and am thrilled to get the Ultimate, I guess I just wanted to see what everyone else thinks, so I am making my first post on the forum.

Which brings me to my question, How'd I do?

thanks!

OMG, not again. Please G, not again.

You didn't say if it is a 3.8 or 5.0 Ultimate.

@Mark, sorry, I don't understand that?
Having been on this forum for over 6 years and reading the vast majority of posts, it appears that every single demo is claimed to have been the personal car of the dealer GM. In reality, making that claim is one of the oldest sales tricks in the book that car salesmen are taught.

So, is it a 3.8 or 5.0 Ultimate.

NOW I got it!
The GM's kids play on the same basketball team as my kids, and I did see it a couple times in the parking lots at games. So, it might be BS, but I had seen it myself. We live in a smaller town.
Thanks!

When the car was at the dealership, it most likely was still a demo.

If you don't say whether it is a 3.8 or 5.0 (and if 3.8, is it AWD or RWD), so can't say what kind of deal you got.

Sorry, I'm new at this.

it is a 3.8 V6 w AWD, sticker was 52,400 or so as I remember.

My goal is to buy a car that fits the following: Nice car with good features, AWD and I don't want a luxury brand. I own a small business and don't want to look like a jerk driving around in a Benz. I live In Minnesota, so I need the AWD.

I bought a Manager Demo a few years ago; a 2010 Mazda CX-9. It was perfectly fine.

As for the price, I think it's a good deal for a used car. Don't think of it as if you're buying a new car.

I think you did well. You are going to enjoy the Genesis AWD Ultimate. I have the same car with same black on black. I specifically chose the black interior because I didn't like the two-tone look with the other colors, just my preference. Also, I think the perforated leather seats look better in black. Congrats and enjoy your new Genesis!

A "very good" price for 3.8 V6 w AWD brand new is about $47,000 before taxes, title, etc. I have no idea how to price a demo.

Seems like a decent deal.

There are some lease specials going on...and I am getting a similar new car (off the lot; less than 50 miles), but RWD (about 2K less MSRP than the AWD), for Zero down, and $500/mo (incl taxes, etc). The sale price assumption on that is 44K (Assume $50K MSRP, $4 K dealer discount, make it $46K; then apply loyalty discount, lease discount, and add Acqusition fees plus Registrration plus extra wear/tear warranty to get to $44K). MF 0.0006, with a $29K residual. Is that a reasonable lease deal?
