  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm installing a couple of Rockford 10s with an amp this weekend. How did you mount your subs and amp?

I saw one guy mount the amp in the battery well with the battery. Another put under the back seat. Self tapping screws? Drill/tap?

Also, how did you secure the box? I drive a little crazy and don't want the box sliding around.

Suggestions welcome.

Thanks for all the replies! Got it installed last night. There are 6mm studs(10mm wrench) in the battery well. I used 1/8"× 1" strap aluminum with pop rivets to build a frame and mount. Lexicon amp on the driver's side, I used piggy back wire connectors 14-18 awg to tie in a kicker LOC although I don't think that's needed, but it does provide a remote signal (comes from the voltage to the existing speakers) that can go to the amp. It takes a few minutes ~3 for the sub amp to kick on. Got my subs, box, and amp from Amazon.

Currently the gain is about halfway and is too loud (IMO) relative to the music. I'll tune it better tonight after work and clean up the install. I'm debating on installing the remote gain or not. For me, I want it just loud enough to feel it. 1x 10" sub probably would have sufficed.

There are wiring schematics posted on another thread, essentially you're going to use the 1 and 2 wires on the RED connector, with the corresponding wires on the second row just below the 1 and 2.

Relatively easy install so far, but again I haven't tackled the remote gain.
