How do i get music to start automatically thru bluetooth?

In my CX-9 if I changed the source to bluetooth it would connect to my phone and start playing music. So far in my 2015 with signature package it changes over but doesnt start playing. I have hit the play/pause button on screen but that hasnt worked either. I have to open the phone and go to the music app and hit play. Is that the only way or can I get that working thru a setting or something?

I think the feature you're thinking of is a feature of your phone, not the car.

If I use the stock media player on my Galaxy Note 4 it does what you mentioned, I have to phisically tell my phone to start playing music.

I downloaded a media player called PowerAmp that has quite a few more customizable settings. One of those settings is to automatically play music when connecting to a device via Bluetooth or AUX.
So now my phone automatically starts playing music once it is connected to a bluetooth device.

Try looking into your phone settings or media player settings, could be buried in there somewhere.
