How do I remove the drivers headrest on a 2012. The rear ones come out easy,but not the front. My mother can't see past it when she tries to back up. She is to short!

If you go to the safety section at the beginning of the owners manual you'll find that they can't be removed. It's by design.

That's actually not accurate. There is a small clip that prevents you from lifting the headrest off. Just look under the button that you push to release and lower the headrest. You will see the silver metal clip. Use pliers to grab the clip and then pull it towards you. It will come right out. You can reinstall it later if you like. Once it is out, you can pop the headrest off if needed. Otherwise, it works exactly the same as if it were still in there.

Hey Joe, well it is accurate that in the owners manual it states that it can't be removed for saftey reasons. I didn't know there was a work around but let me ask you this...how easy is it to get the clip in once it's out if one chooses and will the headrest work the same without the clip? Need needle points?

Easy in and and easy out. Needle point plyers will work fine.

I agree with Glashub- don't do it. Those headrests have anti-whip lash protection.
Does mom have eyes in the back of her head? Turning left or right the head rest is not
in view....

Can someone post a pic of this? Just got my 2012 today. Need to remove head rest so I can put on my suit jacket hanger. Will put flip back after but am not seeing it. Thanks!

Got it from eBay. It is the only one I was able to find that is all metal. Most have plastic clips to attach to the head rest. This one has metal tubing that the headrest posts slide through. But, since I can't get the headrest out...

There is a TSB on this. You need to remove the headrest to reset the Active Headrest once deployed

Thank you everyone for the explanation for the headrest. Mine was mangled and had to be replaced. After reading all of your answers and a video as well, I got it fully done in about 5 minutes. Easy Peasy.
