  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A car reviewer did a pretty insane smokey burnout of an R-spec recently:

I know they turn off traction control, but how do they get the car to sit perfectly still without line-lock? Do they just stomp on the brakes? I always thought the brakes would overwhelm the motor and not allow the tires to spin.

By the way, apparently they did this to the vast amusement of Hyundai support staff, who were nearby but off camera.

EDIT: no, I have no plans to do burnouts of any kind when I get my Genesis! Just curious.

I believe the phrase is called power-over-braking. While I've never done it, I believe you hold the brake and get the tires spinning, once spinning you don't need to apply as much brake to keep it still.

Also known as a Brake-stand. Hold the breaks and give it gas. Only done it once or twince in the Genesis, but not hard.

Check this out, skip to 17 seconds if you're impatient.
