How do you add the "3-blinker" and delayed turn-off headlight?

Good morning folks,

While I can live with some missing features on an '09(such as ACC & electronic parking brake), one thing I'd really like to retro-fit on my '09 is the comfort blinking turn signals from the '10.

Is this something that cannot be changed or would there be parts that I can order and make it work?

Also, the delayed turn-off feature of the headlights would be great too.
I wish Hyundai implemented these features in the first place.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Much of the electrical stuff on the Genesis sedan routes through a CANbus (a type of network) to various "modules" scattered everywhere in the car. Even the turn signal system works this way - instead of using an old fashioned flasher plug-in.

Under the hood, against the firewall on the passenger side is a black plastic box of electrical stuff. Inside that box you'll see the "Front Area Module" (aka "FAM" in Hyundai's manuals) that controls all sorts of stuff including the turn signals, windshield wipers, headlights, DRL control for cars with DRLs, etc. That module is clearly some sort of little dedicated microcontroller/computer.

So maybe stuffing a 2010 FAM module into that slot is all that's necessary? I don't know if the 2009 and 2010 pinouts/wiring is compatible or not. It might be a simple plug-n-go job or it might fry something else.

Although I can live without those two items, I sure wish that when my blinkers on on, they would be LOUDER as I often forget they are blinking.

I work in the automotive field(engineering), so I'm aware of CAN, but I work with cars of a certain automotive group(which is not HMA).
I wasn't sure how Hyundai had this feature set up, hence my question.

Where did you get these info? Are you also in the automotive business by any chance?
You wouldn't know where one could obtain this FAM, would you?

I got the info from www.hmaservice.com where you can browse through factory service manuals page by page. Anybody can sign up on that site even though it initially looks like it's for dealers only.

Nope. Airplane business - an engineer. But I follow the auto world rather closely as well as electronics/computers.

You wouldn't know where one could obtain this FAM, would you?

It probably costs a small fortune from Hyundai dealers. No idea where else it might be found; I'll bet this remains a dealer-only item for several years.
