how do you walk away with car running

and lock up the car . I want to start it and keep it locked , not using the app . The app only will let it idle for 9 or 10 minutes. I like to let my car run longer. Also how to disable that alert when you walk away with key fob with it running. I have spent so much time underneath car trying to figure out that f#cking knock noise. I haven't been reading the owners manual. MAC

I did this once on my old Genesis and you had to lock it via the physical key to get the result you want.

Ideally, pressing and holding it should force lock it even if it is running, but that's not how it is designed.

Not sure of the need, but leaving a car idling for that long is probably not that great for the engine. Many suggest warm up for a car should be less than a minute, even in cold weather to prolong engine life.

Read what the manual says below (Bullet #6) regarding warm up. Doesn't make sense being that we have the option to start the cars via BlueLink and can let run up to 10 minutes.

I could understand this query better if someone didn't want to pay for Bluelink but I don't know why anyone would want their car idling for more than 10 minutes. People can do whatever they want with their cars but I'd really love to understand what circumstances would necessitate long idling. When I go to the grocery store, every now and then I see people who leave their cars running and sometimes come out and still see the car sitting there running. Outside of a dead battery and not wanting to need a boost, I can't figure it out.

Cant trust them they might flee the seen, Anyone ever wake up on a snowy morning and start car take your shower etc and nothing is even defrosted in 10 minutes but I digress I have never had a car I couldn't lock by the remote more political correctness don't idle the car long, don't change the oil so frequently so we make you put in 81/2 quarts instead, 420 hp but we wont let you shut off the nanny shit 100percent, etc etc. You know whats coming taxing you on the miles you drive . 10 years from now people will be posting why would you want to drive your car for more the 10 minutes . You can't but she can. If the car is running and you are inside, with or without the fob, you can lock the doors via the door lock button on the door panel no problem.

oh great 10 degrees in NYC this morning had to start 3 cars a Nissan a caddy and a Genesis guess who's ass was freezing because 10 minutes in 10 degree weather is useless HYUNDAI PUT MORE TIME ON THE APP. Or let me lock the car with it running. Mac

Sounds like your family has trouble getting up and out in the morning. Cars are made to be driven, not sitting idling in the driveway.

I have had remote starts on almost all my cars over the years and the default is 15 mins run time so I am surprised Hyundai went with less. I do not think you can add more time however 15 minutes is plenty. It was -30 this morning and no problem, by the way, with my drone mobile I can lock the doors while it's running. Even after a 15 min run time when it's 30 below it is still not that warm in the car when you get in. I watched the tail pipes this morning after hitting the remote start, quite a bit of black smoke however this is normal as the mixture needs to be extremely rich to fire up and run in these temps. Only lasts for about 10-15 seconds and then it clears up.
