  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I heard you buy on-line only and the price you see is not negotiable. Is this true?

If not how much can I expect to get off the MSRP? I'm thinking of leasing with those low rates being offered.

I recently went through the process, in my case at least the pricing was not negotiable. I was only able to get a conquest rebate which is 750$. Otherwise I paid what it said on the website. I was dealing with Genesis Mississauga and it was great. I believe some dealerships in other parts of Canada may give you more extras, I remember reading about other members getting tint and other discounts.

Thanks for your reply. $750 is still good.

I presume you did have to go to a dealer for the paperwork and all. I know the traditional experience is that they pass you to a couple of other reps for financing and adding options. Did you have to deal with that?

Nope! The only time I went to the dealer was to pick the color I wanted, I was very unsure so I wanted to look at all of them. The Genesis Experience Manager(GXM), pretty much the salesman, offered to bring a car with whatever color I wanted. I took delivery recently and the GXM came to my house to fill out the last bits of paperwork. I dealt with the same person from my test to delivery.

How long did it take from order to delivery? I ordered March 16, the wait is already killing me!!

Your GXM should have told you. Normally 2 weeks even if the car gets to them the first week or dependent on the GXM's schedule because you deal with only 1 person!

Thank you for the reply. GXM said he should have it Tuesday, then he has to send it for tinting so no delivery date set yet. I just find the whole online thing odd and not very informative. Especially after reading all these posts, I can’t wait to drive it.

Sorry for the late reply, I thought you replied like yesterday. I had to do an order from Korea since they didn't have the exact spec I wanted. That ended up taking 10 weeks exactly.

Yeah the online portion leaves you in the dark. But the GXMs are very good at providing information so it isn't the end of the world. The wait is really worthwhile!

I've done two factory orders before. My BMW X1 (the car that I traded in for the G70) took 3 months after I placed the order to get from the plant in Germany to Vancouver. What was the worst part was that I sold my other car so I had no car for two of those three months!

The car that I originally was planning on buying after the X1 was a VW Golf R. I put an order in with one of the custom colours and I was told it was going to take 6 months to deliver from Germany. At about month 3 the dealer said that it was going to be 9 months and I ended up cancelling the order. A few weeks later I bought the G70.

All in all, getting delivery of a factory ordered car coming from Korea in 10 weeks seems reasonable.

Holy crap.

That is a freaking long as wait. I guess I don't have much experience with the German brands but most companies quotes me 4-6 weeks if it was domestic and about 9 weeks for some Asian brands. 6 months sounds like a nightmare, even 3 months sounds awful. I wonder if it would be the same on the east coast.

Wow. And here I am anxiously waiting after only 8 days! Don’t think I could wait that long. But I bet it was worth it.

For the BMW that I ordered, once it left the factory in Germany I was getting updates fairly regularly, at least once a week. Most of the duration was between the Leipzig factory and the port of Halifax. The train ride from Halifax to Vancouver was only an additional week or so. The difference between a factory order for that car between say Montreal and Vancouver would probably be only a few days difference.

The VW Golf R was a whole different matter. I was told at the dealer before I placed the order that it was a very low production car unlike the regular Golf or even the GTI and that it was going to be a very long wait. However when 6 months became 9-10 months I cancelled my order and got my deposit back the next day.

I should point out that reason for the factory order for both the X1 and the Golf R was the same - the body colour. If I were not particular about the colour I could have bought either car the same day from the dealer inventory.

In Canada you don't have to put up with the dealer BS and fighting for the last dime like we do too often. That is a big plus. OTOH, I found the exact car I wanted on the dealer lot and drove it home about 3 hours later.

I like a good fight. Lol. I’d rather that than being left in the dark and waiting for the website to tell me when I get my car. Hopefully the storm grey Interior looks as good in person and no surprises.

Your GXM should give you the VIN once it is allocated to you and registered under your name. Then you can register it for the Genesis Connected Service and use the app to track how long it is sitting at the dealership!
I kept doing it for a week and everyday either the doors, trunk, or hood was open! Was tempted to start up the car or get it to honk to freak out the technicians!

That would be hilarious.
I’m going to email GXM tomorrow for the VIN.
I’ll have some fun with that. They’ll want that possessed car delivered ASAP

Everything was done online. No negotiating on the price. I also got a conquest rebate. Basically I picked the car I wanted online (trim, color, accessories), submitted credit check online, paid deposit and waited. My GXM was great to deal with. He was updating me throughout the entire process. Took about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks to get the car.

I love the online format. You get exactly what you want. No settling for what's available on the lot.

You should have the VIN on the online portal. I believe it should be under document review. You'll get sent a link when the Genesis connected stuff is available.

Nope! Hasn’t been updated since the credit application was approved. I’ve only received info from emailing GXM.
I did download the genesis connected app. I’m ready for the car! Fingers crossed I get it by Friday.
