How does the sport 3.3T compares to the ultimate 5.0?

If I get a G80 (RWD), I'm now leaning towards the V8 NA since I've had issues with basically all turbo vehicles I've owned, and I'm tired of that. And it's less than $2K more. I like the sport better due to the sportier details, like air scoops instead of fog lights, black chrome, and nicer wheels, steering wheel, pedals, etc. But I haven't found any specific information on either model, so hopefully somebody here can tell me other differences, like if wheels/tires are different in sizes, difference in suspension (continuously adaptive on both), and more importantly, how they differ in riding characteristics, and if the V8 is quieter inside.

I think for sure the V8 should be more reliable, correct? But wonder if that trumps the rest of the package or not. All comments welcome. Thank you in advance for your input :).
 
Just speculation here, but I would guess that the 2017+ 5.0 premium models will be the less expensive to own out of warranty long term. I believe that because the 3.3t models has more parts like turbos and active suspension that can fail over time, which are usually costly to repair.

The 5.0 G80 models do not have active suspension and the engine seems pretty reliable due to some updates made after 2014 which reduced the oil consumption issues the 2012-2014 5.0 engines had due to defective piston rings.

So to sum it up, if you are planning on keeping a G80 pass 100k miles then I would buy a 5.0 model if cost of ownership is an important issue for you. If you are planning to trade the G80 before 100k miles or soon after and like sporty sedans with power; then I would just buy a G80 sport since the Genesis factory warranty will cover the expensive parts that could fail before 100k miles until you trade up.

If buying used then I would just buy a 5.0 model since the 3.3T is still fairly new so many long term issues have not been experienced as of yet that I am aware of; and the standard factory warranty is usually only 5year/60k miles for second hand owners.
 
I've had both; a '17 Ultimate V8, and now a '19 3.3 Sport. Both are fine, comfortable, reliable, and powerful cars. While you can find differences between them, looks mean a lot for me, and I was delighted to make the transition.
 
The sport trim is AMAZING. I bought one 2 weeks ago and am madly in love
 
Thanks a lot guys. Even though I own THREE Hyundai/Kia cars, forgot the Genesis also has the 10/100 powertrain warranty (duh!). Ted clinched it for me, having owned both models. I didn't know the V8 didn't have adjustable suspension; that's crazy. And yes, the sport looks way better IMO as well. And since I won't keep the car past 100K miles, nor past 10 years, the sport would be the one. Thank you all again.

My 2 cents...I've had several turbo vehicles and don't remember any problems with them. I read somewhere if you drive a turbo HARD, you should ease up on the throttle before shutting it down. The last couple of miles I stay off the throttle and maybe even let the engine idle for about a minute before shutting it down.
 
Yes, the purpose of taking it easy is to let the turbo(s) spin down and cool a bit. Apparently it's not good to let them spin down from high RPM's without the oil flow.

Turbo and NA feel pretty different, that's often a deciding factor for people as well. Also keep in mind that if you buy used, the 10/100k doesn't transfer. You'd need to get it CPO'd by a Genesis dealership (they'll CPO cars that are not directly purchased from them as well) which adds a bit more to the cost.
