  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I say if you feel Hyundai/Genesis treated you fairly and respectfully there is no reason not to try again. If you don't feel that way, then yeah move on..

Corporate can't really do much about selling you a car, that is on the dealer, there are so many State and Federal regulations regarding how much corp. can interfere, and keep in mind, while they may carry the same name Hyundai or Genesis Financial is a completely separate company. It really is on the dealership to make you happy..

All makes have lemons.. it happens.. I was the victim of back to back lemons from Chevy; a 2010 Avalanche and a 2012 Camaro SS, which was the settlement for the Avalanche.

In my case with the first buy back the dealership was very wiling to work a deal, and I got over $10K off MSRP on the Camaro 2SS/RS Convertible I bought, because I had purchased 12 cars from this dealer in 15 years, plus referred a lot of family and friends to them. But 3 years later when the Camaro was deemed a buy back by GM, the dealership had new owners and they didn't take kindly to the black mark a buy back gave them, so they treated my like crap and essentially told me never to return.. after owning over 40 GM cars, the 2012 Camaro was my last. I will never own a GM again.

you have to do what you feel comfortable with, and if walking away to another brand is what it is, then that's what you have to do.

Wow, quite a story. Good that they put a lot of effort to fix the problems, but seems like they still have not. They do get points for that.

I would think they would offer you a super deal on a new G80. I'd try to meet with the GM at the dealer and see if he makes you an offer. Remember, the final price is what matters. They may not want to go on record as giving you a high trade but they can still give you a huge discount. It would be to their advantage to get rid of you car and cut their cost of repairs. Good luck, hope you get a good deal. Most of us have no problems like that.

Sounds like it's out of warranty?

But they offered you a price that reflects a no issue car otherwise consistent with its age and mileage.

Seems like a reasonable accomodation.

While it is out of warranty now, the problem started before the warranty expired and I took it to the dealership several times prior to the warranty expiring so I think they're still on the hook.

UPDATE: I went to the dealership today and as I suspected they're not too interested in making me any kind of a special deal - they were hoping that Hyundai would do something for them and seemed disappointed that the company didn't come through.

It's surprising they low-balled the initial offer, and shocking they didn't arrange a great deal on a new one. The dealership was right in expecting Hyundai to do something, but even if they didn't, the dealer should have sold you one near their real cost - it would move a car off the lot for them and make things right with a customer who had a bad experience.
