How long does a Genesis Battery Last?

I have a 2013 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 bought new, I live in a mild climate, it has 130,000 miles on it. Drive it everyday, thinking about replacing the battery.

I still have the factory battery in my 2009 sedan with 180,000 miles.

Today I drove my 2012 Genesis 3.8 (tech package) about 50 miles out, got gas and the car barely started (its cold here) so I found a parts store and drove out to them. When I parked the car, it wouldn't start again. The battery was finished. I bought this car almost 7 years ago and it was about 2.5 years old then with 14k on it, now has 83k. So quite possibly this was the original battery, which makes it almost 10 years old. Pretty amazing.

2013 RSpec purchased new 03/13 with 38k on the clock I'm still on my original battery. Starts up great each time. I'm in the NE (PA).

Any battery over 5 years old has done extremely well. 3 to 4 years seems to be an average for my family’s cars. My OEM battery on my Miata went almost 8 years which was a record for me and any battery. That was a Panasonic Japanese made battery. Seems a good number of after market batteries from the auto supply houses come from just a couple of US manufacturers or come out of Mexico. I don’t think it’s in their best interest to make batteries that live past 4 years or so. By then any pro-rated remaining warranty is not worth squat. I’m only 2 years in on my G70 battery so no issues yet.

suggestion, you are way overdue ,like to get stranded? a word to the wise should be sufficient .

My battery life experiences are: For cars with the battery under the hood, about three years. For cars with the battery in the trunk or under the back seat, about six years. This is in a fairly warm climate, and I suspect that the under-hood batteries are being baked to an early death by heat from the engine. Batteries for these cars being in the trunk, should live longer.

This is in a fairly warm climate, and I suspect that the under-hood batteries are being baked to an early death by heat from the engine. Batteries for these cars being in the trunk, should live longer.

Time will tell for sure with the battery in my G70. My wife's Buick had the battery under the seat, died right before the 4 year mark. I think a lot has to do with battery quality as built.

Mine will be 5 years in October. I will replace in just before a long trip in September rather than risk a dead battery 3000 miles from home. I'll be going through some sparsely populated areas.

As for under the hood, my experience is about the same. If three plus years it got replaced before the really cold weather. If you ever replaced a battery when 10 degrees and windy you would probably do the same.
