How long is acceptable for them to keep my car?

2012 R spec is having an oil consumption issue and a transmission issue. I've been in and out of my dealership for the last 4 months or more. Now the car has been in the shop going on 6 weeks. When I call they say thy are escalating with Hyundai. The dealer ship is treating me nice, they brought me a 2016 Genny 3.8 with 15 miles on it as my loan car, nice car btw....but seriously....if it goes on to 2 months what should I do?

Drive the hell outta the '16 and enjoy the side bitch. Can't rush art. Parts coming from Germany and process coming from Korea; takes time.

Haha, I suppose so.....the dealer is advocating for a new engine and a new transmission. I imagine that is being met with a bit of resistance .

Google for the details of Lemon Laws in your state. Read and understand them and see if they apply to your car. If they apply to you, mention to your dealer that you will have to pursue remedies under the Lemon Law if you don't get some resolution on this soon.

ABSOLUTELY...take lots of road trips as you want and drive the you-know-what out of that 2016 Genesis while they have yours. You know the old expression about what you do when you get lemons...

Some of the above advice about driving the loaner may be OK, so long as the warranty does not run out. Not sure if the OP purchased new or used (with or without CPO), and that would determine whether the extended drivetrain warranty is in effect.

My guess is that they may have run out of the new old stock engines to do a complete swap (due to the number of engines they have replaced so far), and the dealer may not have the skill to rebuild an engine or transmission. So they may be searching for a salvaged engine or transmission somewhere. If that is the case, I would pursue state Lemon Law remedies if they apply in this case.

Good point, it's a CPO with 35,000 miles on it. purchased used. They said they expect to get in a crate a brand new engine and a brand new tranny. So.....just sitting here waiting ...
