  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
I have a 2014 Gen Sedan with 111,111 miles. It has had all the service done on it and still runs and looks like new. How many more miles can I expect from this before major problem? I want a new one but the prices are off the chart and no one here is dealing. I am seeing more and more for sale with 150,000 to 200k miles on them? Is this normal or exceptional?

Welcome. I'm going to move this into the first generation sedan section. :)

Nobody here has a crystal ball for your car. Since you are without warranty coverage now you can get whacked with a big repair bill at anytime. It will then be your decision to pay the bill, or move on. Good luck.

I would just change the engine oil every 3k miles. The transmission fluid every 30k miles; transmission filter every 100k miles. The coolant flushed every 50k miles and you "should" have a long lasting drive-train that runs strong well into the 200k mark or maybe longer without major repairs. The key word is should, not guaranteed.

Extending engine oil changes and other fluid/filter changes is a sure way to not have a long lasting drive-train. Timing chain components are very sensitive to oil change intervals and are usually the cause of most major repairs in modern engines just pass 100k miles due to extended oil change intervals.

If you are keeping any car pass 100k miles just change the fluids regularly at low mileages.

I certainly wouldn't try to buy anything now. All things are cyclical and this crazy buying pendulum we're on will swing back the other way soon enough. I got to 120K on my 2015 DH and drove it very hard with no major problems whatsoever.
