How much oil do you put ?

Good morning all.
Guys! I am really confused!
By book during an oil change we need 5.5qt, so I put 5.5. And Oil on dipstick level is about 1/2-3/4 higher then max mark.
Also I noticed shaded area at dipstick exactly where oil level is now which is high. Assuming for 125,000 miles, car was getting exactly that high level, that is why after 10 years it become something like shade.
What should I do? Any ideas? HOW MUCH TOTAL DOD YOU PUT DURJNG AN OILD CHANGE? 5 or 5.5qts?

Stupid question, but did you replace the oil filter too?

If you did, then drain some oil out, might be messy, try to be quick when you remove the bolt and it will splash when you put it back it, so be ready for that.

I had one car before with the same issue, it called for 7 qts (V8 hemi), but it showed full at 6.5 qts after changing the oil , go figure.

From now on just put in 5 qts, makes it easier, just buy a 5 qt jug at Walmart and you'll be good to go.

Yes sir. I replaced oils filter as well.
Guess they mess up with fluid volume. Same like they call for differential fluid only 0.9 quarts. When everyone is putting 2 bottles

My 2012 3.8 takes 4.75 Qts with a drain and filter replacement. My owners manual also states 5.49 Qts. I use a 6 Qt box of Chevron/Havoline ProDS Full Synthetic SN Plus 5W-30 from Walmart ($20, best oil deal out there) and have 40 ounces of oil left over with level right on the "F" dot. Either the manual is incorrect or the dipstick is not designed correctly. I was baffled after the first oil change so I waited half an hour for the oil to drain on the second change. Same result.

I just called Huynday Genesis customer service, and thay said after 10 min waiting on line - “sir, it is your choice either follow modular or dipstick”

Better to run the level half way between the Low and Full marks than over the Full mark.
