  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wanted to hear some feed back on anyone that has had warranty work performed (or tried to have it performed) how satisfied you are. The reason for the question is I have a 14' R-spec that I bought brand new (9 months ago) and has 10k miles on it. I had some serious paint issues on both the front and rear bumper. The first dealership I went to the service advisor looked at for less than one minute and told me "ya bumpers been painted cant cover it." His manager came out looked at it for less than 15 seconds said the same crap and said we wont cover that. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ANY PAINT WORK AT ALL. SO I went to another dealer in town it was covered painted etc. When I picked it up yesterday the service rep told me that Hyundai covers paint for 12 months. That is not true according to the warranty info I was given. SO that's my back story and this is why I ask. I am deciding if I keep the car or sell it and go to another manufacture if Hyundai treats there customers like this. SO can anyone share with me if they have had good or bad experiences. Maybe I am just dealing with a couple of crappy dealers. Again my problem was fixed to my liking BUT one dealer told me to shove it the other dealer said well good luck with it were done. I have had lots of warranty issues with my GM's and one big one with Ford and they fixed them no questions asked no hassles.

First, never pay any attention to what a car dealer verbally tells you. It is not legally binding. Always look it up in the documentation.

According the Hyundai website, warranty on paint is 3 years or 36K miles.

However, this is for the 2015+ models. It is possible that the paint warranty was one year for the 2014 model year. You should have a warranty booklet with your documentation that explains the warranty.

Regarding the first dealer, there are definitely some jerks out there who Hyundai dealers. Going to another dealer was the correct thing to do, but you should post the name of the dealers on this forum, and possibly file a complaint with Hyundai Motor America.

I don't know about 2014, but warranty book for my 2011 4.6 Genesis says:

Paint - 3 YEARS/36,000 MILES

And I am satisfied with the service that my dealership provided so far.

I have been very pleased with the HPP extended plan I purchased. And yes, I have had two big ticket items repaired. Did not have paint issues though. One warranty item was mechanical and the other was a combination of mechanical and electrical.

19 months and nothing has "busted".

I suspect the dealer has a lot to do with warranty satisfaction. I've got a good dealer and problems have been minor. He replaced the driver's seat due to loose leather and a rusty passenger door sill trim piece without any argument. He also rebooted the navi/audio system quickly on another occasion.

I've been satisfied with the warranty, but, very dissatisfied with how often I had to use it while it was still under warranty!!

I had great experiences dealing with the warranty and hyundai canada directly. But dealing with my local dealership was an absolute nightmare. They were terrible. Absolutely terrible to deal with. I had to escalate every single issue I had to hyundai canada and the dealerships owner for the dealership to do the work. Even with proof of emails from hyundai approving the warranty work. The service department would still argue and try to not do the work. Or do a half assed job. Finally stopped dealing with the service department all together. And sent all my own claims directly to hyundai canada and the owner of the dealership. After that, never had a problem again.

Thank u for the replies. I definatley want to file a formal complaint against the first dealership. Good idea on issuing a warning about them here

i was happy with my KIA optima warranty.. 10yr bumper to bumper.. My window trim was faded after 4 years and the dealer replaced it no questions ask, I have the same warranty on the 2015 with $100 deductible... Its one the main reasons i went with Hyundai is because of there warranty.. No other company can match it...

I assume you purchased the 10 year 100K mile extended warranty? The bumper to bumper warranty is 5 years 60K miles, and only drive train is 10 years 100K miles, unless you purchase the extended warranty.

they increased the 60k B to B warranty to 100k... they said they made that part of the deal with the gap insurance.. I'm sure i paid for it one way or another..

Pretty damn pleased. They replaced the engine AND transmission for me. 2012 R spec.

I have had two "warranty" issues:

The car was delivered in Dec '12 with a build date of April '12 but apparently was just earlier than the most recent map update. Neither myself nor the dealer noticed that prior to delivery but when I did I requested they update the map even though it wasn't a "hard" warranty item. They did so with no hassles.

Then several months ago my headlights would blink on and off when making a right turn with the signal on. It was intermittent. I notified the dealer and they replaced the turn signal switch - again with no hassles.

Both "repairs" were done professionally and right the first time and the dealer followed up each time to make sure I was a happy camper. No complaints at all. This dealer is Earnhardt Scottsdale North Hyundai (near the airpark) in the Phoenix metro area.

Wow, most folks would consider that a shakedown. You will likely be surprised to learn that such finance office purchase "add-on" sales pitches can be ignored, or bargained down in cost. Did they spray on undercoating too?

Your timing was good. When the problems first surfaced, it took quite a while before Hyundai owned up to the problem and replaced those items.

It has taken a while....been fighting them since last year, car was in the shop mid January, got it back this weekend.

Overall I am satisfied though. I still have about 67,000 miles left on the warranty
