  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How to get Apple Carplay/Android Auto in a 2015-2016 Genesis Sedan Ultimate (9.2" Screen) - KPLAY

I have the same problem - it's only the OEM video feed that's corrupted. Strangely enough, the touch functionality seems to be unaffected even if the OEM video has gone completely black...
My current suspicion is the cables aren’t the highest quality and slowly loosen with the car going over bumps in the road and stuff

So which cable on which device did you fiddle with to get the video working.

Seems to be the one that goes into the KPlay box (w/ the dip switches) from the OEM screen. That's also the one that has the inline male/male adapter - not sure if that's the culprit or not, as that connection seems tight. The plug looks to have a bit of play in the socket @ the box end. I've wiggled it before & it didn't seem to make a difference but moving the whole cable does :wallbash:

Yeah - wish I could find a replacement to test out the theory. Appears that the socket end is a proprietary Hyundai plug.....

I took your advise and was able to get mine working again in less than a minute by just pulling on the cables, the good thing my kplay box is mounted behind the glove compartment, so I just release the glove compartment wire and fiddle with the cables. I will try to do a long term fix when I get a chance, but its been working good since last Friday. Thank you, I was dreading taking my dash apart, thanks to you I didnt have to. There must be a place where we can purchase a replacement cable, but I'm not sure if the problem is the cable or the kplay box socket.

Would you mind sharing a picture of your set up when you get a chance? I am thinking of re-doing mine to make it more accessible as it is all behind the dash at the moment

I will drop my glove compartment box and take some picture tomorrow.

Hello all:

I’ve finally got it working, but I can’t get out of it to get to reverse and the rear camera, nor can I get the wireless Bluetooth to work. Help. Ready to toss it.

My switching to reverse feature has never worked.

I think that it may be a bit of both. When I first tried the "cable wiggle", it stayed clear for a few months... Now that trick is only good for a couple of weeks. I've gotten really good at dismantling the dash - I don't even bother putting the screws back in, as it doesn't squeak without 'em.

I've zip tied cables & stuffed in all kinds of foam in the dash to eliminate movement but somehow it always comes adrift. I plan to get rid of the car soon anyway, so it can be someone else's problem. Mechanically, it runs /drives fine but a lot of the other attached bits are starting to disintegrate.

Will Genesis be your next car ?.

Here are a few pictures of where I mounted the kplay boxes

On the fence - I'm either going to go w/ a TT V6 G70 or an Alfa Romeo Giulia. The Giulia drives & looks a lot better (to me anyway) but the G70 has a nicer interior.

Im also on the fence, not sure about Genesis.

Mine stayed in good shape for a long time - but now it seems like that it's really starting to age badly all at once. On another note, I think that the plug/wire may be coming loose @ the infotainment screen. I've noticed if I give the dash a smack in that area, the OE image will come back for a while... I'll try to go into it in a couple of days & attempt to reseat it.

Try a good contact cleaner while you are at it.

I shouldn't have to - but might as well while I'm in there! It's not like I haven't tried everything else!

Update -
When I removed the infotainment screen, I noticed that the supplied cable (between screen & KPlay) looked like that it had experienced a lot of tension as it had been routed straight down from the screen. I swapped the cable ends & got a clear signal. Instead of routing the cable as previous I fished it off towards the right, under the air vent & ensured that there was plenty of slack on both ends....

If I get clear signal from the OE display for more than a couple of days, I'll know that I'm on to something.

Didn't last very long - but I'm convinced that it's that cable. Whether or not it got crushed or it was just cheap, who knows?

Hello fellow troubleshooters:

So after three tries, it’s in, seems to be working, so far, so good. However when I place a call with Siri, they can’t hear me, I can hear them fine. Any ideas?

Thanks ahead of time.
